How to make a tea cup candle You will need: Stubs of candles An old tea cup String Tea cups can be brought cheaply from charity shops. If you don’t have any candles you can use for this, then wax pellets can be brought from most craft shops. Remove the wicks from the stubs of the old candles and place the wax in a pan. Use an old pan in case it doesn’t go to plan! Heat gently until the wax is liquid. Coat the string in the wax and pour a tiny bit of wax into the bottom of the cup. Place the end of the string in the wax and let it cool slightly to secure the string in place. Pour wax into the cup, up to the level you require. Hold the string (wick) in place. This example uses two wooden coffee stirrers to do this, pencils would do the job just as well. Leave the wax to set, this will take several hours. You will normally find that a small hollow has been left on the top of the candle where the wax has reduced in size as it cools. If you wish, you can melt a little wax to fill this. You will be left with the perfect “upcycled” gift for any tea lover.
