Grade 6th
1. Read the Oxford pocket dictionary and try to learn how a single word can be transformed into different
parts of speech; like a noun, a verb, an adjective etc. Learn those words to enrich your vocabulary and
write at least 20 such words in your English notebook.
Example – advice (noun); advise (verb)
Practice (noun); practise (verb)
Beauty (noun); beautiful (adjective)
Fast (noun); fastly (adverb)
2. Write a factual paragraph (100-120 words) in your notebook on each of the following topics.
 Your favourite storybook
 Your favourite sportsperson
 Your favourite holiday destination
3. Read a story book of your choice and write a summary of it in your notebook.
Grade 7th
1. Make a flip calendar - one side of which should be a picture - either pasted or drawn (according to
one’s preference) which should be relevant to the month it represents. On the other side :a) On half of a page – format the calendar
b) On the remaining half- Describe the pictures with suitable adjective and state its relevance to
the month its represent.
c) Write a determination for the month and leave space to fill up when and how you fulfilled this
determination.
Note :
a) Make the calendar bright, colourful and imaginative.
b) Use plain A4 sheet for the calendar.
2. Interviewing a person is an art. Read interviews from various magazines and newspapers; Cut and
paste three good interview excerpts in your notebook and decorate it creatively.
3. Read the Novel, “The Three Men in a Boat” by Jerome K Jerome (Of grade IX). Write its summary and frame 10
MCQ’s and 10 very short question-answers out of it.
Grade 8th
1. Make a bookmark on colourful A-4 sheet, decorate it and write famous thoughts of famous
personalities. Laminate and present it beautifully.
2. Read any English Daily Newspaper during your summer vacation. Go through the articles in the
newspaper and select any four (from four different weeks). Cut the articles and paste them in your
notebook and write a response to each of the articles that includes two components:
a) A summary/review of the article (refer the topic done in previous class)
b) A conclusion about how well the public was informed by the article according to you.
3. Read the Novel, “The Three Men in a Boat” by Jerome K Jerome( Of grade IX). Rewrite the main story in the form
of dialogues.
NOTE: Manage your time so that there is no piling up for the last moment. Enhance your vocabulary by
conversing in English with your friends and family.
