YEARS 7 TO 13
KEY DATES
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Recently I have read over 450 junior reports. I am very impressed with the
genuine efforts of the majority of our students who embrace the opportunities
available at Marist and value their education. I also appreciate the many parents
who come to parent interviews to discuss their daughter’s progress with teachers.
This partnership between home and school is very important. Senior examinations
will be held from 29th May to June 3rd and on 18th June there will be an opportunity
for parents of girls in years 11 to 13 to meet teachers.
Shortly you will receive a newsletter from the PTFA. Their contribution to the
school in so many ways is much appreciated. The Family Festival was a
wonderful community event that is going from strength to strength. The next
PTFA meeting is June 15. I encourage you to come and join this vibrant group as
they plan activities for the rest of the year.

HABITS OF MIND
12. Responding with Wonderment
and Awe:
Intrigued by the
world’s beauty, natures power and
vastness for the universe; Have
regard for what is awe-inspiring
and can touch my heart; Open to
the little and big surprises in life
that I see in others and myself.
FRENCH CULTURAL EXPERIENCE!
On Tuesday this week, the Year 12 French students cooked some Escargots from Bourgogne,
following a traditional French recipe. This first cooking attempt in French (Instructions and Recipe
were only given in French!) was a success
and the result was impressive and tasty.
The senior students went to the Staffroom
to share their Snails with their teachers.
Many staff and students accepted the
challenge and savoured this French
delicacy. This cultural experience was
really positive and the students were
pleased to show what they can do.

On Saturday 2nd May three Marist Students were
recognised as leaders in the Vinnies
Commissioning mass held at St Patrick’s
Cathedral. Jane Jeon, Katy Chamley and Krystal
Pomeé received badges from Claire Murphy –
East Auckland Vinnes Area Manager. Nichole

Patrick Dunn.
This candle represents our
mission to help our brothers and sisters in need.
The mass was a lovely service, presided by
Bishop Patrick Dunn who reminded us that we
are called to love. Congratulations Jane, Katy
and Krystal.
YEAR 12 DRAMA - STOLEN
Last week Year 12 Drama performed an Australian play, Stolen by
Jane Harrison. As an ensemble the students showed deep
commitment to truthfully communicating experiences of Aboriginal
children who were forcibly removed from their families, culture and
language.
Although the personal stories of resilience are specifically
indigenous, both actors and audience could identify with the family
themes, such as the need of a child to have a mother.
“I gained so much knowledge from this play. It has made me realise
how much I appreciate my life right now. While working on Stolen
we bonded as a family because the children in the home supported
each other like a family”.
