He began his career in EY’s National Tax Mergers and Acquisitions Practice in Washington, D.C., and has been a member of EY’s Northeast Transaction Advisory Services Practice for the past 12 years. • Doug co-leads EY’s U.S. Divestitures Advisory Services Tax practice, and is a leading practitioner on matters of taxable and tax-free transactional planning for corporations and joint ventures. Doug formerly served as EY’s U.S. Transaction Tax Life Sciences Market Leader, and he continues to work with many Fortune 500 Life Sciences companies on acquisitions, divestitures and internal restructuring. • Doug actively teaches tax courses for E&Y personnel, clients and industry professionals, and is a frequent instructor for the Bloomberg BNA/CITE International Tax Education company. Doug has taught a variety of subjects including tax-free reorganizations; spinoffs and related distributions; taxable and tax-efficient acquisitions, dispositions and joint-ventures; loss limitations; business research and writing; tax due diligence; and various aspects of the consolidated return regulatory regime. Experience: • Doug’s primary responsibilities include providing Fortune 500 corporations in a wide variety of industries with domestic and international transaction tax advice that includes acquisitions, dispositions, integration, reorganizations, mergers, and spinoffs. • Over the past several years, Doug has served as an advisor on several multi-billion dollar acquisitions and joint-ventures in the pharmaceutical, consumer products and media and entertainment industries. Education and Memberships: • Doug received his B.B.A. in Corporate Finance from the University of Michigan Ross Business School (’95), his J.D. from Cornell Law School (’98), and his Masters of Tax Law from NYU Law School (’00). • He is a member of the New York State, Illinois State, and American Bar Associations, and is registered as a tax return preparer (PTIN). • For the past seven years, Doug has been an active participant and advisor, and recently assumed a leadership position in connection with EY’s sponsorship of the Development School for Youth program in New York, a division of the All-Stars Project Inc.
