ECCC 2016 REPORT
Emirates Sepsis Forum - Awareness Matters:
Sepsis has become one of the burden on the health care system worldwide. To date; it is considered the leading
cause of death compared to other morbidities. Not only that, but also survivors may suffer from physical and
psychological sequelae, which mandates special rehabilitation programs.
Therefore, education required to prevent, diagnose and treat sepsis early. Collaborative teamwork initiated to establish
the awareness campaign of sepsis international guidelines and educate healthcare providers to:
• increase awareness of sepsis definition
• highlight Diagnostic challenges
• initiate high standard management for sepsis by health care providers
The Emirates Intensive Care Society and the Global Sepsis Alliance support the UAE Sepsis Forum to make the
awareness goals spread in Emirates. From April 2016, our campaign will extend to have public awareness spreading
by participating people their social activities.
The 12th Emirates Critical Care Conference
was another point to start cooperation with
the World Sepsis Day organizers by
addressing the global challenges of sepsis
in different levels and had a consensus to
support the SEPSIS awareness more in the
social media and overcome the difficulties
encountered by healthcare providers by
proper education to patient and families as
well. We also invited sepsis survivors to
speak about their experiences after
recovery. They all agreed that sepsis
prevention is very important and people
should know more about how to recognize it
earlier to avoid its complications.
The UAE Sepsis Forum is very happy to extend cooperation with hospitals in Emirates to make the coming World
Sepsis Day very successful.
