Biography
An artist of great diversity, Krista has toured across her native Canada as a recitalist, performed
concertos in cities ranging from New York City to St. John’s, Newfoundland, travelled internationally
throughout Europe, Russia and New Zealand and has created multi-media works for herself involving
dance and movement. She has also toured with the Boston Pops, backed up stars like Bernadette Peters,
Smokey Robinson and the Three Tenors and has been on international television, radio and
commercials.
Krista is a specialist in opera repertoire. She was the Principal Second Violin of the Canadian Opera
Company Orchestra for five years and Concertmaster of Opera Boston for eight. She also performed
Wagner’s Ring Cycle with the Arizona Opera and held a position with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. She
is keenly interested in early music and has sought out period instrument work with Canada's Aradia, is a
tenured member of the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra and has worked with some of the world's
leading conductors including Harry Bickett, Christopher Hogwood and Sir Roger Norrington.
Her involvement in new music includes being Principal Second Violin of Boston Modern Orchestra
Project, premiering concertos written for her by Canadian composers and developing countless
collaborative projects with living US composers including Mark Berger, John MacDonald and Theodore
Antoniou and Pulitzer prize winners like Yehudi Wyner and Gunther Schuller. To further promote the
teaching of musical composition, Krista has worked with the students of Peter Child, Charles Shadle,
Andy Vores and Matthew Malsky at institutions like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Clark
University, Boston University, Boston Conservatory of Music and Tufts University.
Currently, Krista is the lead violinist of Alea III and of the Worcester Chamber Music Society. She can be
heard on many recording labels including Naxos, Albany, BMOPsound, Telarc and CBC.
