The Eric M. Suhl Foundation was created in memory of Eric Matthew
Suhl, who passed away in February 2016. He was 28 years old and had
struggled with ulcerative colitis since he was diagnosed in 2008. To help
understand the issues and struggles of Crohn’s & Colitis, ABC Channel 13
produced the special “The Voices of IBD”. It previously aired in December
2016, and featured Eric’s story, the Suhl family, and The Eric M. Suhl

The purpose of The Eric M. Suhl Foundation is to raise money for charitable
organizations who support the things Eric loved as well as help with the
issues he faced during his life.
The inaugural Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament, held on May 15, 2016, benefitted
the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (“CCFA”). The tournament was a great success
with 134 golfers and over 200 people at the lunch ceremony following the tournament.
Additionally, The Eric M. Suhl Foundation formed Team Cool Suhlio to participate in the
CCFA’s Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis Walk. With everyone’s generosity, we were able to
surpass our fundraising goal and donate $25,000 to the CCFA. We could not have done it
without all of the great supporters. It is a true testament to Eric’s friends and family.

The 2nd Annual Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament will be a four-man scramble
held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Wildcat Golf Club. The Tournament format was
inspired by Eric and his love for those around him to have a good time.
In his memory, this tournament features unique games and contests such as skipping
the ball over water, drawing cards for a club and tossing bags to determine your tee
box, all placed throughout the scenic holes at Wildcat. These games allow everyone
to remember Eric and the excitement he was sure to incite.
The Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament is a vastly different experience from all
other charity golf tournaments. The unique format will be enjoyed by golfers of all
skill levels and was designed to maximize fun!

ABOUT ERIC
Eric was a Lanier Middle School Purple Pup, a Lamar High School Redskin, and a University
of Texas Longhorn, where he was a proud standing member of Sigma Alpha Mu and the
Silver Spurs. After graduating, he worked in Houston at Corsitech, in Minneapolis at Ecolab,
and in Tampa for Mosaic, forging unique friendships at each stop along the way.
Eric’s full-faced smile, infectious personality and enormous heart drew over 250 people to
his memorial. He will be dearly missed and remain in our hearts forever.
