The attached Minute of Council provides for approval being given
the "Electricity Regulation Amendment By-law, 1945", of the City of Kelowna.
The following is an extract from a letter written to the City Clerk
of Kelowna by the Public Utilities Commission - "This is to advise that the
Commission consents to the revision of rates provided for in the By-law".
In view of the above I would recommend that the Minute of Council
be approved.

of The Corporation of the City
of Kelowna.
The Municipal Council of The Corporation of the
City of Kelowna, in open meeting assembled, enacts as followsiI. That By-Law No. 780, being the "Eleotricty
Regulation By-Law, 1939" be amended by striking out Section FortyFive (45) tht,reof and substituting therefor the followings"45. The following shall be the rates chargeable
by the City for electricity from the City works supplied within the
municipal limits of the City.

For the first 20 Kilo Watt Hours - Eight Cents (80) per Kilo Wait
Hour.
All over 20 Kilo Watt Hours.

Minimum Charge One Dollar (61.00) per month or portion thereof.

For Stores, Hotels, Industrial Plants and all other than

For the lighting of electric signs, the windows of stores and offices and
for all outdoor lighting Three Cents (30) per Kilo Watt Hour, provided
such lamps have been installed on a separate circuit from the main entrance r
service and equipped with separate switch, fuses and meter; also that all
electric signs and windows of stores and offices are illuminated continuously on each and every night (Sundays excepted if (.:esired) from
sunset to 10.00 p.m.
Minimum charge One Dollar (41.00) per month or portion thereof.
The load requirements for the said rates are as follows - Windows to be
not less than Fifty (50) Watts per lineal front foot of show window;
Signs, Bill and roster Boards to be not less than One (1) Watt per square
foot measured across the greatest area; Outside Lighting to be not less
than One (1) Watt per square foot of playing surface or other illuminated
surface.

not less than 2,000 Watts capacity - Three Quarters of One Cent (i0)

For the next 100 Kilo Watt Hours - Seven and one fifth Cents (7.20) per Milo

- Six and three tenths Cents (6.30) per Kilo
All over 200 Kilo Watt Hours

Minimum charge One Dollar and Sixty-five Cents (‘1.65) per month or portion
thereof.

charge One Dollar (41.00) per month or portion thereof. No heater of greater
capacity than 1,000 watts at 110 volts, or 2,000 watts at 220 volts to be
installed without special permission.

Minimum charge for motors Three Dollars (53.00) per month or portion thereof.
Minimum connection of six months dating from the time on which the service
connection was made. Minimum charge for other classes of Power One Dollar
(11.00) per month or portion thereof.
All the rates and charges in this section contained shall be
subject to an increase of Ten per cent. (10%) if not paid at thi
office of the said City Clerk on or before the eighteenth day of the
month in which the account is rendered, provided such increase shall
not be made when the amount due is received through the post office
in an envelope bearing the post office date stamp on or before the
eighteenth day of the month in which the rates become due. When the
eighteenth day of the month falls on a Sunday, or a public holiday,
the rates shall be payable on the next succeeding day not a public holiday or a Sunday without such increase.
Except as in this By-Law or in any amendments to the same otherwise provided, no moneys received by the City in payment of rates or fees
chargeable under this By-Law or under any amendments thereto, shall be applied
to the payment of the rates or fees for the then current month, until all
rates and fees which shall have become due in previous months have been fully
paid".
2. By-Law No. 897, being the "Electricity Regulation Amendment By-Law, 19431 is hereby repealed.
3. This By-Law may be cited for all purposes as the "Electricity
Regulation Amendment By-Law, 1945".
Read a first time by the Municipal Council this Twenty First
day of May, 1945.
