Meeting called to order by Chair Dave Sletten.
ROLL CALL: Present – Dave Sletten, Keith Wiley, Steve Wedan, Charles Glazman, David
Conley. Others present – Al Bohl, Russ Liupakka, Keith Kesler, Cheryl Westman, Committee
Clerk.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by Glazman, second Conley, to approve minutes from
July 15, 2016, meeting. Motion carried.
ACTION ITEMS/REFERRALS:
Energy Resources Website: Douglas County Park and Ride Program highlighted; locations
previously identified reviewed. Sletten to prepare updated list of locations in the program, along
with mapping links on the website.
ACTION: Motion by Conley, second Glazman, to seek official enrollment in DOT Park and
Ride Program, and provide pertinent information on county website. Motion carried.
Review Ongoing Energy Project List: Reviewed – progress column added.
Hawthorne Highway Department Boiler Replacement: Wedan reported that piecemeal
repairs to boilers continue, as boiler replacement not approved in budget. Sletten and Wedan to
put together cost/savings statistics on boiler replacement project for review by committee.
Focus on Energy Campaign: Focus on energy savings product offer flyer provides free and
low cost lighting packs available to Douglas County residents. Focus on energy also participates
in community outreach events upon request – Douglas County to consider in the future.
ACTION: Motion by Conley, second Wiley, to approve flyer circulation to all county staff and
board members. Motion carried.
INFORMATIONAL: Utility History Reports: Reviewed. Sletten to look into attaining
utility history reports for Highway and Forestry Departments.
Future Agenda Items: Highway Department boiler replacement; computer usage policy
review/update; DOT rideshare program update.

General Info
• Located along the northern side of Highway 2 in the unincorporated area of Brule in the northwest quadrant at the
intersection of US Highway 2 and CTH H, the parking area has up to 10 spaces available for persons seeking to
commute to work. The parking lot is approximately 30 miles (42 minutes) east of the City of Superior Central
Business District (CBD) and approximately 35 miles (44 minutes) west of the City of Ashland.
• Commuters are encouraged to park along the far eastern portion of the lot near the main entrance as the lot is
shared with recreational snowmobile and ATV users who will be parking recreational trailers throughout the year.

miles (48 minutes) south of the City of Superior Central Business District (CBD) and 20 miles (23 minutes) north of
Danbury.

• Located adjacent to STH 53, 5-8 parking spaces are available in front of the town wayside park along Packer Avenue
(aka Frontage Road), north of the local bowling alley and ICO convenience store. Commuters should park facing the
“packer” colored fence beginning at the northern end of the street. The parking area is approximately 40 miles (47
minutes) south of the Superior Central Business District (CBD) and 12 miles (13 minutes) north of the Village of
Minong.

General Info
• Located at 11596 E Waterfront Drive in the Village of Lake Nebagamon, the municipal lot on the north side of East
Waterfront Drive has 5-8 spaces available for persons seeking to commute to work. The parking lot is approximately
26 miles (38 minutes) east of the Superior Central Business District (CBD) and approximately 43 miles (52 minutes)
west of the City of Ashland.

• Located at the intersection of County Roads B & K, the Town of Oakland Town Hall, 6410 S. County Road B, has up

of the Superior Central Business District (CBD). Access to either STH 35 or STH’s 2 and 53 is easily accommodated
from this location.

Mercantile has up to 6 spaces available for persons seeking to commute to work. The parking lot is approximately
31 miles (38 minutes) south of the Central Business District (CBD) in the City of Superior and approximately 19 miles
(21 minutes) north of the Village of Minong,

• Located along STH 35, the Town of Superior Town Hall, 4917 South State Road 35, has up to 15 spaces available for
persons seeking to commute to work. The town parking lot is approximately 10 miles south of the Superior Central
Business District (CBD).
• Commuters are encouraged to park along the north side of the lot, near the small metal pole building, in the
parking area designated for park & ride. A light, parking signs and railing were installed in 2011.
