Christmas Quarter Week 2
HILL HOUSE
INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR SCHOOL
The Small School Scoop
We are pleased to report that the children have all had a
wonderful first full week at Small School and are now familiar and
comfortable with their setting, daily routine, class and teacher.
Important dates:
Next Tuesday, 13 September, marks the 100th anniversary of Roald
Dahl, to mark the occasion please bring in your child’s favourite
story to share with the class.
At Small School we want lunch to be an opportunity for the
children to learn about food practice and good table manners.
We are experiencing some poor table manners in the dining room
and ask for your assistance by practicing at home with your child
during meal times. We also ask that you encourage your children
to dress themselves at home as they must be able to do this at
school for swimming.
Children may not wear any form of jewellery to school, the only
exemption being small stud earrings in pierced ears. No nail
varnish or colorful hairbands please.
Lost property is located outside Mrs Bright’s office; please check
here for any lost items.
To the right of the Hall of Remembrance there is an area where
scooters and bikes can be locked up but please be aware that this
is at your own risk, the school does not monitor it.
Finally we look forward to seeing you at the Parents’ Social Evening
on Tuesday (13 September), from 6.30pm – 8pm at Founders’ Hall.
This is a great opportunity for parents to get to know each other.
We wish you an enjoyable weekend,
The Small School Team

Christmas Quarter Week 2
What we will learn next week:
Mathematics:
Topic:
Counting, ordering
All about me
and shapes
Music
Next week we will be practicing using percussion instruments and learning about the
noises they make. Our topic song will be “I’ve got a body”.
Health and Hygiene
This week in our health lesson have ben talking about germs and how they spread. We
put some glitter on our hands to represent germs and touched people and objects
around us to see how the 'germs' can easily be passed from one person to another. We
talked about what happens when bad germs get inside our bodies and we learnt that
there are some good germs living inside us that help us to digest our food.
Next week we will be learning about some of the things we can do to help our bodies
stay healthy and work well. We will be starting with 'Sleep', which is probably the most
important one for the children as they start their new path through school!
Swimming
Gym
After remembering all the safety rules
at the pool we will explore movement
through the water, submerging nose
and mouth, blowing bubbles and play
bubble tag.
Next week in gym we are learning
about listening and reacting. We
will play two games called Freeze
and Traffic Lights.
Home Learning
Please send any evidence of WOW moments from home into
school, so they can be used for your child’s Learning Journey.
