In 1776, fifty-six businessmen and leaders stood shoulder-to- shoulder and risked everything when they signed their names to this powerful statement... "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor." All Rights Reserved, v3.7 The MADE IN THE USA Project™ Now you can play a lead role in writing the next chapter of American history as you pursue your business dreams! In a Gallup Poll completed on December 18th, 2011, when Americans were asked to list the most important problems facing our country, the top 3 responses were: 1. The Economy in General 2. Unemployment & Jobs 3. Dissatisfaction with Government / Politicians Consider these facts: The backbone of the American economy is small business. As documented by Small Business Administration statistics, 99.9% of all US companies have less than 500 employees. www.SBA.gov On Feb 16th, 2012, the Congressional Budget Office reported, “The US is experiencing the longest stretch of high unemployment since the Great Depression.” http://cboblog.cbo.gov/?p=3333 According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics News Release on Feb 2nd, 2012, “real hourly compensation in the non-farm business sector fell 1.2% in 2011 – the largest decline since a 1.7% decline in 1989.” Our Dream is to LEAD Americans to Rediscover “The Shining City on a Hill.” Where should Americans look for solutions? According to another Gallup Poll taken on November 3rd, 2011; “Americans have the highest levels of trust in small business owners’ and local business leaders’ opinions on how to create jobs, and trust the opinions of corporate executives, congressional leaders and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke the least.” What if small business owners and leaders could come together to inspire optimism for America’s future? Imagine promoting leadership, entrepreneurship, and apprenticeship as a path to economic growth without another taxpayer funded, government program. What are the benefits for American Entrepreneurs selected to join an elite team of insiders to simultaneously increase their business growth and Ignite the Entrepreneurial Spirit in a New Generation? This MADE IN THE USA Project™ report will answer this question & more! Copyright © 2012, Patriot Mission, Inc., All Rights Reserved, v2.3 Our Vision is to BUILD a Bold, Grassroots Leadership Team in every County, City and Parish. The MADE IN THE USA Project™ has been created by Patriot Mission™, a privately held, for-profit corporation launched in early 2011 To Rebuild America through the Power of Small Business™. In preparation to launch The MADE IN THE USA Project™, they have researched small business, economic and political trends as well as the mindset of today’s job seekers. Patriot Mission™ has evaluated best small business practices to chart a productive, profitable and powerful future for America, regardless of the political climate. In two years of research, Patriot Mission™ interviewed countless small business people, job seekers, entrepreneurial apprentices, economic development groups, chambers of commerce, college business incubators, tax policy experts, and politicians. What they learned was both heartbreaking and motivating. Here are just a few of the hundreds of discoveries that influenced the MADE IN THE USA Project™ design: The American Dream is not dead, but most citizens believe the USA needs to start a miraculous turnaround RIGHT NOW! In recent testimony before the US House Veterans’ Affairs Committee’s Economic Opportunity Panel, Ted Daywalt, President & CEO of VetJobs.com reported the unemployment rate for veterans age 18-24 is 31% percent and could reach 50%! Politicians on both sides of the aisle, especially those without small business experience, seem to have trouble understanding balanced budgets and the real power behind entrepreneurship. 72% (22 million) of the USA’s nearly 30 million small businesses are SINGLE PERSON OPERATIONS www.sba.gov/advocacy/7495 According to Patriot Mission™ research, young people are willing to work hard, teach others new skills (like how to use social media & mobile technology), invest in their education and serve as apprentices (even if it means delayed financial gratification). Young people will seek out career mentors and want to learn from entrepreneurs but are not sure how best to approach them. Successful entrepreneurs will share their lessons learned, but need a simple, easy-to-use system to do so (DFY - Done for You). Many Americans will still work together to solve problems. People want MADE IN THE USA jobs, products & services. Copyright © 2012, Patriot Mission, Inc., All Rights Reserved, v2.3 Our Purpose is to GROW our Capital, Political Influence and Liberty. Our Mission is to Rebuild America through The Power of Small Business.™ The MADE IN THE USA Project™ Goal “To Ignite the Entrepreneurial Spirit in a New Generation by sharing Stories of Men and Women who have experienced Trials and Triumphs in their Pursuit of the American Dream!” The first step To Rebuild America through the Power of Small Business™ is to launch The MADE IN THE USA Project™, which is a county-by-county trip across America to meet successful small business owners. These men and women still believe America offers great economic opportunity and have refused to participate in the great recession. By telling their stories in local communities along with sharing practical strategies to mentor a new generation of small business owners, we can rebuild a prosperous America. The MADE IN THE USA Project™ has three phases which will be launched and supported by a sponsorship program: Phase 1: Publish the Success Stories of 12 local Leaders in a Book for each American County and Parish Phase 2: Promote local Economic Development Resources, Organizations and Mentors Phase 3: Launch a Private, Micro-Business Incubator and a 1 Year Leadership Plan to Expand Local Growth America’s Founding Fathers pledged their Lives, Fortunes and sacred Honor to one another when they signed the Declaration of Independence. How would they feel about the MADE IN THE USA Project™? While it is impossible to know for certain, it is reasonable to believe the Founders would enthusiastically endorse The MADE IN THE USA Project™ because it publicly celebrates and promotes an individual’s freedom to start an enterprise, work extremely hard and hopefully enjoy a profit. The Founding Fathers understood the importance of setting goals and being mentally tough. Founders of new enterprises and small business Apprentices succeed faster when they learn from grassroots entrepreneurs who have experienced the ups and downs of free market capitalism. “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson Taking an idea from concept to business success is guaranteed to be filled with challenges and many exciting stories. This long, tough road is where leadership is forged. Along with the families who support them, these entrepreneurial leaders need to share their invaluable lessons learned with a new generation. These powerful stories strengthen the Backbone of America™, a.k.a. Small Business Owners, and inspire new entrepreneurs. Setting a goal of “Igniting the Entrepreneurial Spirit in a New Generation” is a BIG IDEA. From a company whose mission is to Rebuild America through the Power of Small Business™, you would expect this BIG IDEA to launch with a strong execution plan. The MADE IN THE USA Project™ is the fuse to ignite an explosion of energy to power an Entrepreneurial Revolution. Copyright © 2012, Patriot Mission, Inc., All Rights Reserved, v2.3 Phase 1: Publish the Success Stories of 12 local Leaders in a Book for each American County, Parish and Independent City The MADE IN THE USA Project™ starts in each county by publishing a book featuring the stories of 12 “entrepreneurial revolutionaries” to inspire their fellow, local citizens. While they each have different businesses, backgrounds and experience, these leaders prove hard work and perseverance produce success. These local entrepreneurs are living in plain sight and offer real examples of what is possible. Each person has faced and overcome challenges in order to live the American Dream in the way they choose. The 12 leadership Sponsors may find their published stories are an important first step to writing their own book. What are the general profiles and requirements of the 12 leaders? Each of the 12 different successful Leaders must be from non-competing industries The leaders must have a solid reputation, strong expertise and a successful business Willing to share their story and promote their business interests Be supportive of their county, parish or city, even if much of their business is outside the local area Have an interest in helping To Rebuild America Through the Power of Small Business Be supportive of the local Private Business Incubator and 12 monthly leadership events What is the goal of the book and what else will be included? The book will promote the featured leaders’ business interests specifically as well as entrepreneurship and small business in the local area. The book will share a brief history of the county, parish or city and include information about those who founded the area with a particular emphasis on the business environment. The 12 leaders’ stories will be prominently told as examples of the potential to succeed in the local area. The book will include details on the support organizations that will be promoted in Phase 2 of the project. This is critical because the success of a local community depends on effectively tapping into all the resources in an area and helping entrepreneurs focus on what they do best. Depending on the county, if there are active apprentices who are making a meaningful contribution to the launch of the local incubator, they may also be included. The book will be written in an easy to read, story format so it will bring the area to life and encourage people to share it with others. How will the launch event benefit the 12 leaders? The MADE IN THE USA Project™ launch event is a highly promoted program designed to connect all three phases. The event will be themed and scheduled in a way that promotes the local area and effectively features the 12 lead sponsors. Each will be invited to share their stories in a solo presentation or on a group panel. The program will invite county dignitaries and support organization players. One of the hallmarks of the launch event is that it is designed to be fun and unique as opposed to a standard ballroom, rubber chicken program. Business and community sponsors along with apprentices will promote event attendance because it is also the kickoff of the 12 month Private Business Incubator local growth plan. Copyright © 2012, Patriot Mission, Inc., All Rights Reserved, v2.3 Phase 2: Promote local Economic Development Resources, Organizations and Mentors The second phase of The MADE IN THE USA Project™ promotes often under- utilized, community economic development resources available to support entrepreneurs at every growth stage. Not only can these organizations, programs and mentors be crucial for start-ups, but they can be a lifesaver for businesses that have been open for years. Most counties offer small business support through chambers of commerce, community and state colleges, volunteer business plan mentoring groups and angel investors, but few business owners take advantage of these opportunities. After the book goes into the 90 day production phase, the pre-launch promotion period begins to survey the community and build a powerful, creative and unique launch event. Patriot Mission research has shown one of the key frustrations of many support organizations is that most entrepreneurs, small business owners and potential start-ups do not access their resources, which are often free. By including these organizations in the pre-launch planning, there is a lot of good will put on the table. By recognizing their work product and substantial efforts, many of these volunteer and community organizations will be revitalized to support new growth. Phase 3: Launch a Private, Micro-Business Incubator and a 1 Year Leadership Plan to Expand Local Growth In the third phase, The MADE IN THE USA Project™ will launch a Private, Micro-Business Incubator in each community using proprietary technology built to grow local economies and promote innovation through grassroots capitalism. The incubator will effectively match existing organizations, resources, and programs with people who are best suited to use them. This is a primary reason Phase 2 gathers this information and promotes it during the launch event. The Private Business Incubator’s 12 month local action plan will implement win-win programs to serve the small business community and teach hands-on entrepreneurship to apprentices. The Patriot Mission™ proprietary Private Business Incubator model differs from traditional incubators in a number of important ways. Most people are not familiar with a business incubator which is why the prelaunch marketing will include entrepreneurial education about their benefits. This program is also designed to work together with local colleges and universities that may already have a formal business incubator. What is the benefit of the Micro-Business Incubator to the 12 Gold Sponsors? During the launch event, the 1 Year Leadership plan to expand local growth will be the focus of next steps. Each of the 12 leaders will have the option to play a key role in these events including the opportunity to host an event at their place of business or a location they choose. Even with a small business owners’ busy schedule, since this is planned over a 12 month timeline after the book launch, there is plenty of time to design and execute a strong plan. Patriot Mission™ staff and apprentices will plan incubator events, so the sponsors get the best of both worlds. All they have to do is host the event and they get the promotion and publicity of being the featured leader while not having to manage the event details themselves.
