Timothy J. Lepore, MD, FACS

Surgery and Member, American College of Surgeons; Former Assistant Professor of Surgery, Brown
University Medical School and Director of Emergency Services and Surgical Director of the Intensive Care
Unit at Roger Williams Hospital; Research interest in tick-borne diseases and thrombophlebitis. Dr. Lepore
is often referred to as Nantucket’s surgeon, medical examiner, school physician, Lyme disease expert, and
occasional “Dr. Doolittle” and is the subject of the book Island Practice: : Cobblestone Rash, Underground
Tom, and Other Adventures of a Nantucket Doctor (2013) by Pam Belluck. Finisher of 48 consecutive Boston
Marathons.
David Nolan, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, SCS, CSCS

Northeastern University Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program; Associate Clinical Professor,
Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences, Northeastern University;
Graduate Lecturer, College of Professional Studies in the transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
at Northeastern University. Dr. Nolan is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and Sports Clinical
Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a Certified Strength and
Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Kristy Popp, PhD
Post-Doctoral Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School with a PhD in exercise
physiology and research focus on stress fractures and endocrine-related issues in sports performance.
Prior to starting her postdoc, Kristy coached cross country and track and field at Iowa State University,
during which Iowa State’s distance runners won four individual NCAA championships in the 5,000 and
10,000 meters. In her current coaching of adult runners and triathletes, Kristy is committed to advancing
the understanding of stress fracture etiology with the goal of helping recreational and competitive athletes
improve performance, prevent injury, and promote long-term health.

Adam S. Tenforde, MD

Richard J. Wood, PhD
Clinical Team Member, Virta Health (specialty online medical clinic focusing on the reversal of type 2
diabetes). Former Associate Professor of Exercise Science and Director of the Center for Wellness
Education and Research, Springfield College, Springfield, MA. Rich played an integral role in developing the
Nutritional Science Major at Springfield College and has advocated for re-examining the USDA’s Dietary
Guidelines for Americans and dietary guidelines for people with type 2 diabetes. One of his most
notable research contributions was his published work on altered lipoprotein metabolism due to dietary
carbohydrate restrictions. Rich also has experience as a strength and conditioning coach for professional
hockey players and for Division III college athletes, and as a youth hockey coach.
