Job Purpose
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating assessments on Apprenticeships and
Work Based learning provision within the School of Early Years, Health & Care.
Key Result Areas
The post holder will be a member of the course teams within the School and ensure
effective coordination of Employer Responsive provision, full cost and externally
funded projects through the development of meaningful, long term relationships with
employers, external agencies and Governing bodies in order to deliver a high quality,
responsive curriculum portfolio.
The post holder will contribute to course developments and administration and will
contribute to the effective and efficient organisation and delivery of learning
programmes, e.g. Apprenticeship workshops. The post holder will be required to
meet with employers and determine training needs analysis of employees and
matching this to appropriate qualifications.
General Responsibilities
1. Negotiation of a weekly and annual schedule of assessor case loads and
coordination of assigned duties.
2. A wealth of experience in engaging with a wide range of employers to
promote business development and training needs.
3. To develop effective external relationships to promote and drive the
employer responsive offer that is flexible and meets the needs of learners
and employers.
4. Support the delivery and assessing of programmes up to Level 3
equivalent together with underpinning knowledge.
5. Carry out observation of assessment practice and lead internal verification
in line with V1 standards, IQA guidance.
6. Co-ordination of specific Apprenticeship / WBL programmes.
7. Maintaining records to track student achievement and performance.
8. Develop and co-ordinate the delivery of discrete training for employers to
meet workforce training and development needs.
9. Assisting with the development of Individual Learning and Action Plans.
10. To coordinate a team of assessors via case loading ensuring compliance
with legislation, insurance, sign ups and reviews.
11. Provide co-ordination and work with the delivery team and the Business
Development team to meet and exceed targets and business objectives
including success rates, financial and quality targets.
12. Liaise with CIS to ensure student framework claims are timely and
accurate.
13. To monitor and update procedures and processes in agreement with
Student Records and Business Assurance to ensure compliance with
internal and external audit requirements and outcomes of audit actions.
14. Proven track record of supporting students and WBL candidates to
achieve qualifications through:




Organising and carrying out work based observations and
assessments as required by specific programmes.
Recording and providing feedback to students.
Developing materials to support learning.
Guiding and tutoring in support of students.
15. Keeping up-to-date registers and student records, collating data related to
retention, achievement, attendance and student progression.
16. Demonstrate the ability to successfully network and develop key client
relationships.
17. Ensuring subject knowledge and vocational practice is up-to-date within
Early Years, Health & Care.
18. Production and completion of student / candidate progress reviews and
reports.
19. Involvement in quality improvement procedures including course and
curriculum area reviews.
20. Contributing to student interviews, promotional activities, open events
employer liaison and other College events.
21. Maintaining a safe working environment.
22. Match training needs to appropriate qualifications and coordinate
assessors.
23. Liaison with external bodies, eg Awarding Bodies/OFSTED.

agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment
for staff and visitors to the College.
Variation in the Role
Given the dynamic nature of the role and structure of New College Durham, it must
be accepted that, as the College's work develops and changes, there will be a need
for adjustments to the role and responsibilities of the post. The duties specified

The post holder will be expected to work in College and in the
community. Base will be the Framwellgate Moor Centre. Own
