AAUW ARKANSAS STATE CONVENTION
April 28-29, 2017

REGISTRATION
Registration begins February 15, 2017 for the Annual
AAUW Arkansas State Convention. This year the Convention
will be hosted by the Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village AAUW
Branch. Registration is $40 for April 29 only and $45 for
April 28-29. Registering for both dates will include a Movie
Night featuring the movie Equity on Friday with appetizers,
wine, or other beverage and on Saturday, a continental
breakfast and lunch from Chef Johnna’s at the DeSoto Club
April 28 activities will take place at the Coronado Center and
Saturday, April 29 activities will be at the DeSoto Club.
LODGING
Three options are available for lodging.
1. Some of our members will host a delegate from another branch for a donation to our
Academic Angel’s Scholarship Fund. If you would like to stay with a host for one night, please
indicate on your registration form.
2.
The Hot Springs Village Inn is an independently owned economy hotel
outside the Village West Gate 4429 N. Highway 7, HSV, AR 71909 ,
501-922-9600 http://www.hotspringsvillageinn.net/ Rates are
$85.46 per night. Make your reservations early. Rooms are limited.
3. Branches may want to pool their money and rent a vacation home for one night or the weekend.
There are 2 and 3 bedroom homes available on the golf courses and lakes. If you have several in
your group this is an inexpensive way to visit the Village or a family mini vacation. While you are
at the convention, others can golf, fish, hike, or tour Hot Springs National Park, approximately 14

has located vacation homes that are conveniently located to our meeting. Housing prices vary
but by sharing, it will be less than a hotel per night.

THEME
The theme for the convention is Women Leaders: Past, Present, and Future. The guest speakers will
discuss the achievements of Arkansas women from the past; the challenges that women face in
today’s workforce, and the importance of training future leaders for tomorrow.
EACH BRANCH IS ASKED TO DONATE A BASKET FOR A RAFFLE ON SATURDAY. FUNDS RAISED WILL
BE SENT TO AAUW AR, INC for the NCCWSL PROGRAM.
DIRECTIONS TO HSV
Hot Springs Village is located in West Central Arkansas in the Ouachita Mountains. We’re located 15
minutes from Hot Springs and an hour from Little Rock. The directions below are for the two
manned gates.
Getting here from NW Arkansas
Take I-49 South toward Fort Smith; exit 20, take ramp left for I-40 East toward Little Rock/Ama; exit
81, take ramp right for AR 7 South toward Russelville; Turn right onto AR 7/N Arkansas Ave; continue
through Russellville and Dardanelle on Hwy 7 N. Hot Springs Village is approximately 55 miles from
Russellville. From Hwy 7 N turn left onto DeSoto Blvd.
Getting here from Little Rock
Take Interstate 30 West to Exit 117. Take Highway 5 at Benton towards Hot Springs Village. Follow
Highway 5 approximately 18 miles and arrive at the East Gate entrance to Hot Springs Village just past
the community of Owensville. Turn right onto DeSoto Boulevard. The entrance gate is approximately
1/4 mile up DeSoto Boulevard. The Highway 5 East Gate is manned from 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. each
day. Visitors must use the Highway 7 West Gate after hours.
Please note that we are a gated community. You will need to
check in at the gate. They will have your name on a list. You will
receive a guest pass for the weekend. The Highway 7 West Gate
is manned 24 hours a day.
