Nike Hoop Summit Notes
About The Nike Hoop Summit
The Nike Hoop Summit is an annual
basketball game that features the USA
Basketball Junior National Select
Team, which is comprised of U.S. high
school seniors, against the World
Select Team, which includes the best
players from around the world who are
19 years old or younger.
USA teams have compiled a 12-5
all-time advantage in the series,
including an 84-73 win in 2014 that saw
Justise Winslow (Duke University/
Houston, Texas) score 16 points.
The World Select Team claimed
back-to-back wins in 2012 and 2013, as
well as victories in 1996, 1998 and
2009.
The Nike Hoop Summit has been
held annually since 1995, with the
exception of a three-year hiatus from
2001-2003. In 1998 (San Antonio,
Texas), 1999 (Tampa, Fla.), 2000
(Indianapolis, Ind.) and 2004 (San
Antonio), the game was played in the
city hosting the men's NCAA Final Four.
From 2005-2007 the game was staged
in Memphis, Tennessee. Since 2008,
the Nike Hoop Summit has been played
in Portland and while there has
recorded the four largest crowds in the
event’s 17-year history.
Some of the game’s past highlights
include: 10 rebounds by perennial NBA
All-Star Kevin Garnett in a U.S. win in
the first Hoop Summit in 1995; 33
points from Dirk Nowitzki to help the
World Team to a win in 1998; 20 points
and seven assists from 2000 World
Team member Tony Parker; and 35
points from Shabazz Muhammad in
2012.
How They Got Here
The 2015 USA Basketball Junior
National Select Team was selected by
the USA Basketball Men's
Developmental National Team
Committee, which is chaired in a nonvoting role by Sean Ford (USA Basketball Men’s National Team Director) and
includes AAU appointees Rich Gray (St.
Louis Eagles, Mo.) and Boo Williams
(Boo Williams, Va.); NFHS appointees
Herman Harried (Lake Clifton H.S.,
Md.) and John Olive (Torrey Pines H.S.,
Calif.); and athlete representatives

Legacy Of Success
An incredible 165 former USA and
World Select Team members have been
drafted by NBA teams, including 14
players in the 2014 NBA Draft and 11

World Team alumni Andrew
Wiggins went No. 1 in 2014, while
another international player, Anthony
Bennett, went No. 1 in 2013.

1995, eight Hoop Summit alumni have
been chosen No. 1 in the NBA Draft,
including the past five No. 1 picks.
All told, 55 players have been selected among the first 10 draftees.
The first three draft picks were
former Nike Hoop Summit players in
2014 (Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker
and Joel Embid), in 2012 (Anthony
Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and
Bradley Beal) and in 2008 (Derrick
Rose, Michael Beasley and O.J.
Mayo).
Five players have gone on to earn
NBA Rookie of the Year, including Kyrie
Irving (2012), Tyreke Evans (2010),
