Suffixes -ant, -y, and -ity
Focus
The suffix -ant means "being in a particular state" or "one
who does something." For example, adding the suffix -ant
to the word serve changes it to servant, or "one who serves."
The suffix -y means "having the quality of, state." For example,
someone who has luck is lucky.
The suffix -ity means, "the quality or condition of." The suffix
converts certain adjectives into nouns. For example, something
that is necessary is a necessity.
