1. Explain various ways in which Pilgrims and Puritans were similar and different.
The Puritans and Pilgrims have many similarities. First, they were both Protestant Christians. Second, they both
came to the Americas and started settlements. Yet, they were different as well. The Puritans wanted to “purify” the
Church of England, not leave it. The Pilgrims were Separatists who wanted to leave the Church of England (Anglican
Church), though they were still loyal to the kingdom of Britain.
