Are you “toadally” ready for retreat?

“Toadally Trust God.” That’s the theme for
this year’s Annual Prayer Retreat at Norman
Park, April 13 and 14. I sure hope you and your
ladies are planning to attend the retreat this
year! This is going to be the best yet! The key
speaker will be author and singer, Cheri Taylor,
from Santa Claus, Indiana.
If you are an avid reader of the State
Promotional Bulletin (and I hope you are), then
surely you have spotted “Tiny Toad” jumping
through the pages of the last couple of issues,
and if you are an avid reader of the GWIT page,
you also know what to do with Tiny Toad when
you find him (or her) – hint: go back and look at
the January Issue.
Registration begins at 3:00 on the 13th and
the Concert of Prayer begins at 4:30 – please be
there – it is the focal point of the retreat, which
sets the tone for the entire weekend!
Friday evening will start out with Cheri giving us a sneak peek of her message for Saturday
morning. Then the Toadally Fun Time will
begin! Ladies you will not want to miss what
has been planned just for you this year!! We all
need a break and I guarantee you will forget
about everything else once the fun begins! You
have brought some awesome gift baskets in the
past, and we need for each local group to bring
a special basket again this year. You can make
it a “Toadally Trust God” theme or mix it up
with anything your group chooses. Make it real
special because you just might be the lucky one
to get it back! We will have hilarious games and
activities galore and we will give away extra
tickets to the winners, giving an even greater
chance to win a basket! Your face will hurt with
all of the laughter that is in store!
Also – the WNAC Provision Closet is in
need and the preference now is gift cards (WalMart, Target, etc.), and national food chain
restaurant cards (Cracker Barrel, Shoney’s,
etc.). So bring your gift cards and we will make
sure they are forwarded on to the National
Office.
Have you filled out your registration form
yet??? Well get to it!! The form is in this issue
and also the February issue. The “early toad”
fee is $75.00 but if you wait until after March 15,
the fee will “jump” to $85.00. As usual, we allow
for walk-ons and the fee is $15.00 (payable at the
retreat) and meals for walk-ons will be $8.50
each. We need you at this year’s retreat – hop on
down to Norman Park! I thank you and Tiny
Toad thanks you!!

March 2012
Greetings from Castle Rock! We are excited to
tell you how things are going lately! We are
turning a HUGE corner by plugging in teachers
to our children’s church area. Susan started the
children’s church ministry early on and it has
now expanded to THREE classes. We are averaging 25-30 kids every week and it really keeps
things hopping around Truth! Susan is slowly,
but surely working herself out of a job in that
area. Our greeters and ushers have also plugged
into a rotation. We are so thankful for the people God has sent our way! We have some great
teachers and leaders!
This year is shaping up to be a tremendous
year for our new church. We averaged 53 in
attendance in January, with 20 first-time visitors! We also saw several folks at the altar this
Youth ministry is a big part of Truth.
month, which is a big step forward. Our folks
have never been a solid part of churches and
have definitely not displayed religious actions in
front of people. God is moving in hearts and
changing lives with every week that passes, and
we are grateful that you play a part in this ministry by your prayer and financial support.
We have a long way to go, but we are seeing
forward progress every month. Many of our
folks have begun to tithe, and we are now able
to pay for our lease completely on our own!!
Woo Hoo! We are making plans to shoot for 100
in attendance on Easter this year. Please pray
for our outreach efforts. There is SO much work
to do in Castle Rock! There are a few other evangelical churches in our area, but not much
impact is being made for Christ. We hope to
change that in the years ahead!
As a final note, we are beginning our small
group studies this month (we are calling them
Compass Groups), and we are anticipating
great things as our folks grow through study
together. These will be vital for the discipleship
of our flock. We are starting three groups at first
and hope to expand quickly. We will let you
know of the progress.
Thank you for helping to send our family out
to Castle Rock. God is working through our
church and we want to ride the wave He is
sending!
The Burke Family
Greetings in Christ:
Thank you so much for your prayers and
support. Your kindness and remembrance
means more than you will ever know to the
work here in Fairbanks, Alaska. Janice and I are
deeply moved by your loving care for us. It
seems that the longer we serve and stay on the
field where God placed us, the greater the testing of our faith and commitment.
Beginning in January 2012, our status under
Home Missions is changing. While we are still
under the Board, we are no longer fully supported by Home Missions; and have no guarantee of receiving a set salary. We are now in the
roll of receiving, “Designated Only Support.” In
reality, this means that our monthly salary will
be based on the amount of receipts that come in
monthly to Home Missions and are marked,
“Wallace Account.” Our church family here is
expected to make up the balance.
*(Just a note of explanation: Home Missions,
like other FWB Departments, is under great
financial stress. This stress prompted the Home
Missions Board to take certain steps regarding
operation. A
decision was
made to urge
several older
H o m e
Missions
works to find
a way to exit
out
from
under
the
H o m e
Janice and Ron Wallace
Missions
Board. So, in
complying with the Board’s decision, we submitted an exit strategy and are now in that
process.)
There is nothing that I desire more than to
see the work here standing on its own- fully
self-supporting. We are very close to that position, but fall short financially. We still need your
monthly support. All I can do is to ask you to
seek God’s will in your decision and then to follow the Spirit’s leading. We are still faithfully
doing the work and fully relying upon God’s
promise to supply our needs. I have perfect confidence that God will make His will clear to you
in this matter. Thank you for standing with us.
We need your prayers more than ever.
Thank God, that January is ended. According
to the Weather Service, January was the coldest
month on record for the City of Fairbanks. The
average daily tempt came in at a -31.7 degrees
below zero. Here’s how the Sunday’s fared. On
January 1st, it was -42 degrees; on January 15th,
it was -46 degrees; and, on January 29th, it was
-55 degrees below zero. We suffered through the
-40’s knowing some hardy Alaskans would still
attend Church, but when it hit -55 below, plus
heavy ice-fog, we decided to cancel Services for
that Sunday. This is the first time we have canceled Sunday Services due to cold in about six
years. Today, we have a warming trend with a
high of about -5 below zero. For this, we can
truly praise the Lord!
Serving Our Lord,
Thanks,
Ron & Janice Wallace
From the Missionary’s Desk:
Words often fail to express our inner heart
and deep feelings. Please know that I am
extremely grateful and have a heart filled with
appreciation to the churches and individuals
who give sacrificially to support FWB
Missionary workers in Home Missions and
Foreign Missions.
Janice and I have received so much from our
supporters over these many years of service. We
love and appreciate each of you. We know that
without your prayers and support our ministry
opportunity would not be possible.
At times, it may sound like we do not understand your sacrifice and difficulty in giving
faithfully each month to support a missionary.
Please know that we do understand, and we
marvel at your commitment, perseverance and
willingness to share regardless of the personal
cost. Many of the churches in Georgia have suffered greatly in the worst economy and job loss
in recent memory. Yet, they still find a way to
keep supporting missions. Again, we marvel at
the commitment of our people.
We know the real motive shared by you, the
giver, and by us, the receiver is our love and
commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and our
desire to make His name known among all people.
Thank you for all you do in His Name.
Our love and appreciation,
Blessings,
Ron Wallace, Alaska

Open letter from Ron Wallace
Mission hires Director of Advancement
Georgia Promotional Bulletin
On February 2, 2012, International Missions’
General Director Clint Morgan announced to
the Mission board, staff, and missionaries that
Mark McPeak had accepted the offer to return
to the Mission in the position of director of
advancement.
For over a year, two major International
Missions‘ posts were vacant: director of stateside operations and director of development.
The Mission’s leadership team and board
sought to bolster these departments while facing budgetary constraints. Missionary Sam
McVay admirably filled the director of development slot on an interim basis. However, he and
June feel compelled to return to their ministry in
Spain.
The leadership team surveyed missionaries,
pastors, laymen, and state and national leaders
seeking advice. “As a result, and after prayerful
consideration, many hours of dialogue, and
counsel from many of you,” Clint Morgan stated, “we determined it was wise to hire someone
in a modified dual role to cover the two vacancies. The overwhelming choice for this role was
Mark McPeak.”
“Although some counselors expressed concern about a hire at this level while continuing
to restrict the return of missionaries to their
fields, it should be kept in mind that we did not
keep missionaries stateside to cut expenses, but
rather to generate income,” affirmed CFO Rob
Conley.“ In reality, it is more expensive to keep
some missionaries stateside than on the field.
Hiring Mark and keeping missionaries stateside
have precisely the same short- and long-term
objectives of generating sustainable income.”
The response from missionaries, board, and
staff has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic.
Board Chairman Danny Williams stated,
“During his previous tenure with
the Mission, I
found
myself
impressed with
Mark’s insights
and
skills.
his
However,
heart for reaching
the world with the
gospel of Christ is
even more notable
and inspiring.”
Former director
of field operations
and veteran missionary
Steve
Lytle responded
Mark McPeak
to the news with
enthusiasm, “We
rejoice that Mark is coming back home. We will
pray that God will use him, and that together
we’ll see the Lord turn things around, even this
year.”
Tim and Kristi Johnson, missionaries to
Spain, were among those heavily impacted by
the need to increase cash reserves. “As a missionary who is currently stateside because of the
financial crisis our Mission is facing, ”Kristi
wrote, “I know the importance of finding someone to develop a solid strategy for a strong support base. I believe Mark’s proven passion for
sharing the gospel and his amazing giftedness
will be a vital part of leading International
Missions into the future, where missionaries
will remain on their fields of service without
fear of being called back to the States because of
a lack of funds.”
McPeak’s role encompasses engaging the
IM Year-End Financial Picture
Although the audit for fiscal year 2011 has not occurred, un-audited
numbers drawn from financial reports have been released by Rob
Conley, chief financial officer for International Missions.
Money sent to the Mission as undesignated funds provided
$1,670,149.26 for under-funded missionary accounts, field projects, and
field ministries. “What a blessing that so many donors have transitioned their giving to the general fund” General Director Clint Morgan
stated appreciatively. “Individuals, churches, and associations giving
undesignated funds to International Missions made it possible for all
missionaries to end the year without carrying the burden of a deficit
account over into the new fiscal year.”
Designated money entered accounts as designated throughout the
year. At year-end, three accounts were over-funded and contributed
$34,770.76 to the $1.67 million that flowed out of the general fund to
subsidize under-funded accounts. The accounts of two retired missionary families contributed $24,715.63 to the general fund. One career couple who has yet to deploy to their field of service added $10,055.13 to
the general fund. “Please note,” emphasized Rob Conley, “that no
career missionaries with overseas service had over-funded accounts.
Yet, because many donors have given undesignated, the funds to supplement under-funded accounts were available. Kudos to our donors!”
Conley also indicated that though undesignated funds greatly benefited missionary ministries, the un-audited numbers indicate the
Mission ended the 2011 financial year with a deficit of $443,748.91. “We
absolutely do not have funds in reserve to sustain another year of financial losses,” explained Conley. “Rebuilding those cash reserves is the
goal of every missionary currently on stateside assignment. Substantial
one-time gifts and a tremendous World Missions Offering will encourage Mission personnel and strengthen the bottom line. However consistent, systematic support through monthly faith-promise giving,
church budget giving or tithing, and consistent giving through existing
channels and programs is necessary to build the cash reserves. I truly
thank God for those who have taken that step of faith.”

entire IM family in unified strategies and tasks;
effectively communicating the purpose of IM;
and developing and maintaining constituent
relationships.
For more than nine months, the board grappled with the timing of implementing this vital
position. In the December meeting, the board
authorized hiring a director of advancement
within the approved, reduced budgetary restrictions.
When informed of McPeak’s employment,
Keith Burden, executive secretary of the
National Association of Free Will Baptists,
responded, “Mark McPeak’s personal integrity,
people skills, and credibility among denominational leaders uniquely qualifies him to assist
International Missions as they address present
challenges and build a stronger, more effective
outreach for Free Will Baptists.”
“I am immensely grateful for the chance to
return to International Missions. It’s humbling
to rejoin this dedicated team while some of our
missionaries are being held at home.” McPeak
asked, “Please pray (and partner) with us as we
seek the Lord’s direction. We desire that our
plans will be His plans. God’s movement in our
works around the world and the quality of
those He has called to go through IM encourage
me that our most fruitful days are still ahead!”
McPeak will transition to his new position
immediately, assuming responsibilities on
Monday, February 6. If you have any questions,
please feel free to call or write the Mission office.

round-trip to southeast Georgia where they led a
Saturday night youth rally at Ebenezer Free Will
Baptist Church (Glennville) before dispersing to 12
local churches for Sunday morning services.
Christian Service Director John Murray coordinated the busy weekend. The students ministered to
almost 1,000 people, received over $2,600 in offerings for the college, plus six churches plan to send
additional financial gifts to FWBBC.
Sophomore ministerial student Richie Kyburz
delivered a stirring message to the well-attended
South Georgia Association youth rally as young
people and adults from area churches filled
Ebenezer Church. The entire group was treated to
an old-fashioned Southern cookout following the
service, after which participating pastors took the
student-preachers home with them.
Mr. Murray spoke at Philadelphia Free Will
Baptist Church (Folkston) where Pastor Parnell
Aldridge leads the congregation. Pastor Eric
Brown and Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church
(Alma) welcomed the singing Rejoice Ministry
Team.
“It was so encouraging to hear the pastors
praise our student-preachers,” Murray said. “The
students were just as energetic in their praise for
the Georgia pastors and churches. The churches
opened their doors wide to us. We had a great
weekend.”
Several FWBBC students made timely observations about the preaching trip:
Tim Hutchinson (Sophomore): “Preaching trips
are one of my favorite things about Bible College.
I’m thankful for a college that gives us a chance to
preach, for a denomination that believes in young
preachers, and for the God Who put it all together.”
Jordan Looney (Senior): “ The reason I enjoy
preaching trips so much is because I get to meet the
Free Will Baptist people and share with them what
God has done for me”
Greg Smith (Senior): “It’s always a great moment
to meet pastors with so much experience in the
ministry.”
Karissa Brown (Freshman singer with Rejoice
Ministry Team): “The Pine Level congregation was
so supportive and made us feel at home. It was a
wonderful worship experience.”
Cody Balfour (Sophomore): “I loved this trip!
The church (Bethel Free Will Baptist Church,
Baxley) was gracious and perceptive, and Sunday
School was educational.”
Derreck Lute (Freshman): The people of South
Georgia are so loving. God really moved in His
house today (Piney Grove Free Will Baptist
Church, Bristol).”
Judson Phenicie (Senior): “I enjoyed my time
with Pastor Tim Horne and New Hope Free Will
Baptist Church (Jesup). It’s amazing how God
works making it possible to travel across the country and minister in our churches.”
An eight-man preaching team from Free Will
Baptist Bible College ministered to 925 people in
Southern Ohio on January 29, according to
Christian Service Director John Murray who led
the weekend evangelistic effort. The seven student
preachers, plus Mr. Murray, filled the pulpits of
eight congregations during the 850-mile roundtrip.
“Most college students sleep in on Saturday
morning,” Mr. Murray said, “but these seven
young men were up early and loaded into a van by
6:30 a.m. with preaching on their minds.
Theological discussions were the topic of the day
on the drive north, while praise for the Ohio Free
Will Baptist pastors and churches made the ride
back to Nashville sound like a revival meeting.”
Pastor Mark Price, pastor of Porter Free Will
Baptist Church (Portsmouth), arranged preaching
appointments in eight Ohio churches for the
FWBBC team. The congregations gave more than
$750 to defray the cost of the two-day trip.
Team members stopped in Morehead,
Kentucky, on Saturday to enjoy a feast prepared
for them by the parents of FWBBC senior, Zach
Maloney. They arrived at Porter FWB Church in
time for local pastors to gather at 5:00 p.m. and
take the student preachers home with them for
Sunday services.
“The busy pastors returned our students
Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and were highly complimentary of their preaching,” Mr. Murray said. “But you
should have heard the students praising the
churches and people they met. Those young men
are realizing what I’ve known all my life—Free
Will Baptists have some wonderful people, and it
is always a delight to meet more of them.”
Several students made observations about the
Ohio experience:
Jordan Looney (Senior): “I had the best time on
this trip. Pastor Dan Widdig (New Hope Free Will
Baptist Church, Lucasville) and his wife were so
gracious. It thrills my soul to see how big God is.
He doesn’t just work in our local area, but He is
working all over the world.”
David Landers (Senior): “I really enjoyed the
small but close church atmosphere with Pastor
John King and the congregation at Long Run Free
Will Baptist Church (Lucasville). The people were
so accommodating and welcoming. It was wonderful.”
Cody Balfour (Sophomore): “I had an awesome
time! The church (Sciotodale Free Will Baptist
Church, Portsmouth) was really receptive to the
message. Sunday School was great.”
Greg Smith (Senior): “This was one of my
favorite preaching trips. I enjoyed spending time
with a down-to-earth family (Pastor Chris Oiler;
Union Free Will Baptist Church, Wheelersburg)
that’s strong biblically, and teaching their kids
about Christ. Brother Oiler is a great pastor to be
around.”
Jake Manning (Sophomore): “This was my first
preaching trip. What a great experience. I’m ready
to do it again.”
Nick Hewett (Sophomore): “The pastor, deacons,
and other leaders are strong believers. Their ministry is vital to a community that’s facing drug
usage and abusive families. I was delighted to see
almost 25 young people in the congregation
(Bethesda Free Will Baptist Church, Jackson).”
Free Will Baptist Bible College has engaged
the services of Nashville’s premier real estate
firm—French Christianson Patterson &
Associates—to market its West End Avenue
campus to prospective buyers, according to
President Matt Pinson. This shift to high-end
realtors specializing in neighborhood development will expedite relocation to the college’s
new campus site in Gallatin, a 66-acre block
purchased in 2008.
The decision to contract service with French
Christianson Patterson & Associates came at the
suggestion of Frank Woods, FWBBC’s long-time
associate and principal of Woods Capital
Group, LLC, whose firm advised the college 18
years and previously marketed the campus. Mr.
Woods will continue as consultant and member
of the Campus Relocation Team.
“We are so delighted with this positive turn
in our relocation effort,” President Matt Pinson
said. “We have the best of two worlds—
Nashville’s flagship real estate group is set to
launch a broad, aggressive marketing strategy
for our current campus, and a valuable friend
will be retained as advisor and counsel.”
The French Christianson Patterson &
Associates marketing strategy will include a
public relations firm to stimulate interest in the
FWBBC campus among prospective buyers.
This strategy will be to advertise via numerous
media outlets, maximize internet exposure,
employ direct mail campaigns, and post bold
signage on campus to update the drive-by
Nashville business community.
Bob Bass, FWBBC’s relocation consultant,
said, “We are excited to be working directly
with brokers Ellen Christianson and Rick
French, the two co-founding principals with
French Christianson Patterson & Associates.
They were our obvious choice in the search for
a marketing and sales partner. They bring a
wide variety of expertise with diverse
prospects. Our new approach of looking for
multiple buyers for the campus makes it important to partner with individuals who have
broad-based marketing savvy. Their experience
and market share presence along the West End
Corridor will be invaluable.”
French Christianson Patterson & Associates
has been a major real estate entity in Middle
Tennessee since 1985. The firm’s realtors specialize in servicing Nashville’s southwestern
suburbs and metropolitan neighborhoods.
Ellen Christianson, who brings 30 years of
real estate experience, said: “While today’s market conditions pose new challenges, the size and
diversity of the college site will work to our
advantage.”
Rick French, consistently ranked by Nashville
Business Journal in the top ten residential real
estate agents, elaborated: “To have multi-family
residential opportunities, as well as a broad
range in size of single family home sites is rare.
In addition, the historic properties, renovated
and in need of renovation, all under the existing
historic overlay, will increase the options available to buyers.”
The FWBBC Board of Trustees voted in 2006
to relocate the college, authorizing the sale of
the 70-year-old campus located in the
Richland/West End area of Nashville.

the
Richland/West End Neighborhood continued
to fuel FWBBC’s relocation decision. Two years
later, the college invested $3 million to purchase
66 acres in nearby Sumner County, and has
raised more than $2 million in pledges toward
the future relocation effort.
The new campus site, located 25 minutes
from downtown Nashville, will provide ample
parking for future needs, technologically current academic buildings and residence halls,
space for athletic programs, and energy-efficient buildings.
