From the Senior Pastor
Leadership
at Calvary
A
fter the morning worship service
today, there is the congregational
vote on the elder and deacon
candidates. I trust you have
prayerfully considered who you are going to
vote for this morning. All of us are agreed that
leadership is vital for
the nation, the family,
the economy, and
certainly for the Church
of Jesus Christ.
Our Lord Jesus is the
head of the Church
(Colossians 1:18), and
therefore it is essential
John & Gudny Munro
that we follow His
instructions as given in Holy Scripture. Our
conviction from Scripture is that there is to be
a plurality of leaders in the church, and that
the leadership is not from outside of the local
church. Rather the Holy Spirit raises up within
the Body those who not only are qualified to
lead, but have a deep love for the church.
I count it as the highest of privileges to serve
as a leader at Calvary. This is a very weighty
responsibility. Paul writes: “We ask you
brothers, to respect those who labor among
you and are over you in the Lord and admonish
you, and to esteem them very highly in love
because of their work. Be at peace among
yourselves” (1 Thessalonians 5:12–13). n

spiritual decision. It’s an ongoing commitment
to participate in the life and ministry of our
church family. Led by Senior Pastor John Munro,
the Calvary Membership Course provides a
common foundation for those who wish to
join. We want everyone to understand who
we are, what we believe, and the mission and
vision of our church. Please bring your Bible!
