“BETTER - Bringing Europe and Third countries closer together through renewable
Energies” initiated in July 2012, under the support of Intelligent Energy Europe programme.
The starting point is given through the cooperation mechanisms provided by the Renewable
Energy Sources (RES) Directive, allowing Member States to achieve their 2020 RES targets in a
more cost efficient way, and thereby including the possibility to cooperate with third
countries.

ASSOCIATED MEMBERS
The strong involvement of all relevant stakeholders is essential and would
enable a more thorough understanding of the variables at play, an
identification and prioritization of necessary policy prerequisites for an
enhanced cooperation. Interested stakeholders is expected to enjoy a
number of benefits through their registration as “Associated Members” to

2013. This event provided all interested stakeholders and experts a chance to meet face-to-face and further work on RES

Stakeholder Consultation Workshop in North Africa
The Stakeholder Consultation Workshop in North Africa took place on the 28th of October 2013, in Rabat, Morocco. The
issues discussed at the workshop were the preliminary results of the BETTER project, the current and expected
contribution of the RES-E in MENA region and the opportunities and barriers associated to the implementation of Article 9

BETTER QUESTIONAIRE FOR NORTH AFRICA
Within the framework of Stakeholder Consultation Workshop in North
Africa a BETTER Questionnaire was developed in order to assess the
main barriers for RES investments in North Africa.
