Superintendent’s Report EPPING SCHOOL BOARD August 6, 2015 SCHEDULED GUESTS: Football Boosters/Concession Stand Proposal for new field- This is a request that was made by Athletic Director Averill on Friday, July 10, 2015. SCHOOL HANDBOOK REVIEWS: Each of the Epping Principals, along with Athletic Director will review the handbook changes for the 15-16 school year. SCHOOL/DISTRICT AFFILIATED GROUP AGREEMENT APPROVAL: None at this point, we have sent out reminders to the groups involved regarding the need for School Board approval. NOMINATIONS: Assistant Principal, EMS: It is a privilege to nominate Susan Gualtieri as the Assistant Principal for Epping Middle School. Susan is certified as an Elementary Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Reading and Writing Specialist and Principal. For the past three years Susan has served the students of Derry in her position as an Assistant Principal at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School. Susan has demonstrated competence in student management, supervision and evaluation of teachers and the Emergency Management Team. In addition, Susan has experience developing tiered models of instruction to support students in the areas of reading and writing. Susan is technologically literate and has experience with the use of Google classroom. Susan’s experiences as a middle school leader are a good fit for Epping Middle School. We welcome Susan into the Epping community. Open Positions include: District- School Psychologist, Technology Support person EHS- Special Education teacher EMS: Spanish teacher 20% EES- None Special Education- We are hiring Paraprofessionals at this time. OTHER: Retreat for Epping Leadership Team: On July 15, 2015 the District Leadership Team, along with other administrators participated in an annual retreat. The morning time focused on what it means to be a leader and where each of us is our leadership journey. The afternoon session focused on creating school goals that aligned with the district goals and anchoring professional development events that will support the school goals. The team also created the schedule for the opening days of school which are August 25, 2015 –August 28, 2015. Donation to EHS: Recently, as the result of a monthly drawing, the Zeiss Company donated a microscope to Epping High School. All aspects of Policy KCD, the Public Gifts policy were followed. This microscope is valued at $1,150.00 and we are appreciative of the generosity of the Zeiss Company for making this donation. A thank you letter has been sent on behalf of the high school. Prescott Road ridge work update: According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, the Project Manager, David Scott reported that the state has agreed to wait until the summer of 2016 to close the bridge for the bridge work. This will minimize the impact of student bus routes.
