Look at both sides of coins and help your child discover that the front and back of the coins are different. Gather state quarters and iden fy the different scenes on each state coin. If your child shows interest in coins, he might want to start a coin collec on. Open a pretend store and let children buy things with real or pretend money. Older children can prac ce coun ng money and giving change. Have your child cut out coupons and find the item on the coupon on a trip to the store. While shopping for groceries, iden fy a lime and other fruits and vegetables. Naming them will help build your child’s vocabulary. Try to find a fruit or vegetable you are unfamiliar with and purchase one to try at home. Listen for rhyming words while singing the song. Talk about the words that rhyme and write down other words that rhyme with nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar. Point out different collars to you child.
