Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank-Off Rules Welcome to the 20th Annual Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank-Off! Thank you for entering our contest. We here at Chestnut Square want to ensure that your entry into our contest will be fun for you, your friends and family. Following are a few guidelines that we hope will make you a winner: 1. Absolutely no raw eggs or raw egg products may be used in your entry. 2. If nut products of any kind are an ingredient, please advise the judges and our staff will place a note on your freezer prior to the commencement of the tasting. 3. In your packet you will find a white hat that should contain the number(s) of your entry(ies). Please wear that hat proudly while cranking in order for us to find you. 4. As in the past, Chestnut Square is providing the ice and salt for your freezer. We also provide generator power, but be sure to bring outside rated extension cords! 5. Included in your packet are sample containers for judging. Once your ice cream is frozen, please check to make sure the numbers on your sampling container(s) correspond with the number(s) on your entry as well as the number(s) on your hat. A volunteer runner will be by to take your samples to the Visitors’ Center for judging. Your ice cream must be frozen in order to be judged. SAMPLES FOR JUDGING MUST BE TURNED IN BY 12:00 P.M. 6. ABSOLUTELY NO SAMPLES to be given out to the public until the tasting is opened to all ticketed tasters. The Cranker Tent will be open to the public for viewing and fun until 11:45 a.m. At that time, the tent will be cleared of all visitors. It will be re-opened for tasting after all samples are delivered for judging. You will be serving tastes to ticketed tasters from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. Chestnut Square will provide tasting cups and spoons. 7. A map indicating the location of amenities of this event is included in your packet. Please note that lunch is available to Crankers at the Visitors Center. 8. Should you need anything, please ask one of our volunteers. We will be glad to help. 9. PLEASE DO NOT EMPTY YOUR ICE, SALT, AND WATER ONTO THE GRASS OR INTO THE FLOWERBEDS. TAKE YOUR FREEZER BUCKET TO THE DESIGNATED LOCATION ON THE MAP WHICH IS INCLUDED. If you are unsure of the location, please ask a staff member or volunteer for assistance. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK! Entrants are required to bring two (2) gallons of their entry ice cream for tasting by the public. This is in addition to the (1) gallon of ice cream required for judging. *Please note that tickets will be collected from the public for each tasting. All contestants must bring a helper or assistant to help collect tickets. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on May 1, 2015. Registration deadline is May 30, 2015. Entrants may sign below to release their winning recipe if they win the Killis Melton Ice Cream Specialty of the Year. This allows the winning recipe to be used to create ice cream products for the benefit of the Doc & Clyde’s Ice Cream Churn Exhibit and the Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank-Off.
