The Clemson University School of Nursing (CUSON) seeks a leader in nursing research for a growing
department of PhD, DNP, and Master’s prepared nursing faculty committed to the advancement of
nursing research. The successful candidate will facilitate interprofessional connections for health research,
innovation, and scholarship.
Position Description: The Associate Director for Research serves as the senior nurse researcher
responsible for developing and facilitating innovative, progressive, faculty-led programs of research. The
Associate Director of Research will be responsible for strategic planning of research goals and initiatives,
facilitating collaborations, facilitating and securing research funding, and supervising research-oriented
faculty. The successful candidate will ensure the developmental of faculty research that complies with the
ethical and regulatory guidelines of the School of Nursing and our multidisciplinary partners within and
outside Clemson University. The successful candidate must possess research leadership skills,
interdisciplinary collaboration experience, administrative ability, and interpersonal skills that enable
working across multiple disciplines that address priority issues and funding opportunities in the research
community.
The Clemson School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and
offers traditional baccalaureate, RN-BS, and accelerated nursing programs. Graduate programs include
Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education and an interdisciplinary PhD
program in Healthcare Genetics. Implementation of the DNP program is scheduled to be completed by
fall, 2017. CUSON is collaborating with the Greenville Health System in the development of a Clemson
University Center for nursing, health research and innovation. The School of Nursing will expand into a
new state-of-the-art 78,000 square foot building in 2018. The new building has a designated Research
Suite within the Administrative Wing that will support the school’s research infrastructure. Strategic
research priorities in the School of Nursing include interdisciplinary collaboration for nursing science and
other emerging health science priorities.
The Associate Director of Research reports to the Associate Dean/Director of Nursing and is responsible
for research leadership of CUSON. The Associate Director of Research coordinates site- specific research,
mentoring, and professional research development programs for Clemson nursing faculty. The Associate
Director articulates the vision for CUSON developed through a strategic planning process led by the
CUSON Director consistent with advancements in the discipline of nursing, interprofessional education,
practice, and healthcare.
Qualifications and Position Requirements:

Must be of tenured faculty rank
Record of funded grants, national, regional, state or foundation funding. NINR, NIH, is preferred
Experience with pre and post award management
Collaborative leadership style
Excellent communication skills
This is a full-time 12-month, tenured faculty position. Salary level and start up funding commensurate
