PLANTER BENCHES
In order to ensure a source of consistently superior teak wood that is also
environmentally friendly, we at Diamond Teak/Diamond Tropical Hardwoods
develop and maintain our own teak plantations.
In 1992, we planted hundreds of thousands of trees in Costa Rica in an effort to reforest areas of this country that had been completely denuded of
forest. The trees are tended with great expertise and care, and in a process
spanning decades, they produce the finest teak wood in the world. Each of
our plantations is managed in a sustainable, environmentally sound way so
that at least our small part of the tropical rainforest will remain permanently
preserved.
After a great deal of hard work and investment, our company has been
awarded the Chain-of-Custody environmental certification overseen by the
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the highest environmental standard available. The FSC/Smartwood® program is recognized as the gold standard in
environmentally-sound forestry management, and we are delighted that the
many years we have invested in working with the FSC has resulted in this
valuable new credential. Our dedication to detail and hard work show
through in the quality and beauty of all our products. We know of no other
company that grows its own wood supply, and we would not have it any
other way.
