Patrocinado por: PHOTO CONTEST LIFE+ TETRACLINIS EUROPA “TETRACLINIS, A TREE BETWEEN TWO CONTINENTS” http://lifetetraclinis.eu/tetraclinis-articulata/ PRESENTATION The first edition of the photography contest “Tetraclinis” LIFE13 NAT/ES/000436 is sponsored by ANSE (The Association of Naturalists Sureste) within the project LIFE + Tetraclinis Europa to promote the protection and recovery of this unique species and its rare habitat in Europe through photography. TOPIC The topic of this contest is the tree known as the Sandarac gum tree, sabina mora, ciprés de Cartagena (Spanish), thuya (French), ( العرعارArabic), Siġra ta' l-Għargħar or Tetraclinis articulate and its habitat and all subjects related with its conservation: farming, threats, description, ecology, protected areas, traditional uses, and landscapes, etc. Tetraclinis articulata is an Iberian North-African tree that is found in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Malta and reaches the southeastern Iberian coast (Cartagena and La Unión) as the only European location. In the Murcia region it is located in Peña del Águila and El Sabinar and in continental Europe, this tree appears with other species such as the arto (Maytenus senegalensis) or the cornical (Periploca angustifolia) in a unique habitat: the Tetraclinis articulata forest. Tetraclinis articulata forest habitats are very rare and are Priority Community Interest under the Habitats Directive (European law on the protection of nature). The presence of this species has forced the selection of Il-Maqluba (limits of tal-Qrendi) and Wied il-Mizieb (Mellieħa) as Site of Community Importance being part of the Natura 2000, the European network of protected areas. WHO MAY PARTICIPATE The contest is open to anyone over the age of minors. Minors can participate through schools, youth associations or similar institutions in the EU (especially Spain and Malta) as well as Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Participants warrant that the photographs are taken under the condition requirements of the LOPD (Spanish Agency of Data Privacy) and they are responsible of that. Judges and sponsors of the contest can send photographs out of the contest. HOW TO PARTICIPATE Photographs must be sent to [email protected] with personal data of the author (name and address) A maximum of three photographs per person are allowed, with full freedom of technique and procedure, which must also be original. Photograph requirements are as follows: Must be in JPEG format Files adequate for A4 reproduction Images must not have been awarded in other contests or used for profit. Any changes to the original photograph will not be accepted; only balance or compensation adjustments of the images are allowed. The winners and finalists will be asked copy of the original files. Minors can never appear in the photograph. ETHICS Participants of the contest must behave respectfully with nature. Entries after this date will not be considered. SELECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS The judges will select the best photograph in each of the categories. In order to verify the accuracy of the winning picture, it is a prerequisite that the author/s of the winning photograph/s send an original copy to the competition organisers. JUDGE The jury will be composed of seven members, all people with extensive experience in the world of photography and nature conservation. ANSE will not transfer this material to third parties outside the LIFE + Tetraclinis Europe. ANSE is committed to mention the name of the author of the photograph.
