Seeking balance HOW DIET AND LIFESTYLE CAN CHANGE THE WAY Y O U L I V E T H E R E S T O F Y O U R L I F E ‘If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” - Sir Isaac Newton. The New Biology I have observed that there is a period for new ‘balancers’ to adapt. It’s quite understandable that you may be reading this but reserving judgement. After all, we all have a cupboard full of supplements that we have turned our backs on, haven’t we? The promise that caused us to buy them was just that; a promise! So please bear with me as I share this issue with you. I’m going to share with you some of the thoughts of the ‘giants’ in pH research with you. My first ‘giant’ is French scientist and doctor, Antoine Bechamp. He lived to 90 years. Considering he was born in 1816 this is no mean feat, for if it was anything like we observe in Charles Dickens’ books, anyone who survived to fifty in that sort of external environment was doing well! Dr Bechamp’s contribution to my own understanding comes via a modern giant, Dr Robert O Young, who discovered (through live blood microscopy), the ability of microorganisms to ‘morph’ into destructive forms simply through changes in blood pH in the body. When he began to research this in scienific annals, he discovered Dr Bechamp. ANTOINE BECHAMP coined the phrase ‘Pleomorphism’ from his own observations of the changes in organisms in the blood. If Dr Bechamp had had a willing audience, I believe we would, as a population, all be infinitely healthier today. here’s what he said; “All natural organic matters (matters that once lived), absolutely protected from atmospheric germs, invariably and spontaneously alter and ferment, because they necessarily and inherently contain within themselves the agents of their spontaneous alteration, digestion, dissolution”. PLEOMORPHISM and VITALISM ‘The characteristic microbe of a disease might be a symptom instead of a cause.” Pleo-morphism, according to Dr Dennis Myers, a student of Bechamp’s works, means ‘many forms, many or more’ (pleo-), forms or bodies (morph-). This is in contradistinction to Monomorphism which means one (mono-) body or form. Modern medicine is founded on the idea of Mono-morphism ,where once a germ is a particular germ it always stays that way. According to this way of thinking, a streptococcal germ is always a streptococcus. It only has one (mono-) form; it doesn’t change into anything else. Pleomorphism, on the other hand maintains that “germs” occur in many forms, which may change into a virus, which may change into a bacteria, whichmay change into a fungus. Any of these forms; bacterial, viral or fungal can and do eventually, break down and turn back into that from whence they came. Then it starts all over again, This is life, coninuing no matter what. A germ is ‘a beginning’, and that is all. Dr. Béchamp was actually able to show that all animal and plant cells contain tiny particles which continue to live after the death of the organism - and out of which microorganisms can develop. In his book Mycrozymas, Béchamp laid the foundation for the concept of Pleomorphism. So why is this apparently obscure research so important to our understanding of Acid/ Alkaline Balance? It’s because pleomorphism is the tip of a philosophical iceberg that has its roots in the beginnings of medicine as we know it. It could be seen as the same battle we have on our hands today; that of Empiricism vs. Rationalism, ‘natural’ vs. ‘scientific’ In the book Divided Legacy by medhistorian Harris Counter, this conflict is described. “While this conflict can be discerned in the earliest writings of the Hippocratic Corpus, from the fifth century BC, the names Empirical and Rationalist became current in Rome at the beginning of the Christian era - designating groups of physicians competing with one another ideologically and economically.” Today we are overwhelmingly ruled by the Rationalist model, supported by massive pharmaceutical corporations with advertising budgets larger than the annual GDP of many countries. We are forced by law to comply with Rationalist medicine. This mechanistic or chemical understanding of human life dictates that life itself can be only explained in terms of physics and chemistry, or, rather like the family car, through mechanics. N ATURAL L IVING : You are and will be what you eat It insists that measurement, analysis, chemistry and exact physics must underly each and every medical decision. we are, in the rationalist medical model, a series of little interlocking machines. The Empirical view, on the other hand, maintains that living matter must be differentiated from the basic elements, and that it has a ‘life’ of its own and should be studied thus. Not surprisingly, this concept earned the new name of Vitalism. HIPPOCRATES REFUSING GIFTS FROM THE PHARMACEUTICAL SALESMEN. Remember, we are talking about a debate as old or older than Hippocrates himself. We are seeing it today in the massive resurgence of natural therapies and the reactive legislation before us designed to deprive us of our ‘Vitalism’. Vitalism threatens an industry based on rationalism, because vitalism can’t be put into a test tube or a mass spectrometer and measured. Vitalism is about the whole person as something greater than and different from a collection of viscera. Our wholeness gives us an extra, if undeniable, quality to our individual organs. Today, says Dr Myers, we pay dearly for our knowledge of the parts in ignorance of the whole. Vitalism, according to Ledger, maintains that; “the organism is reactive, at all times coping with, and attempting “Today we are overwhelmingly ruled by the Rationalist model, supported by massive pharmaceutical corporations with advertising budgets larger than the annual GDP of many countries. ” RATIONALISM VS. VITALISM GIANTS OF SCIENCE COMMON SENSE IN NEITHER COMMON NOR SENSE. IT RELATES ONLY TO WHAT WE HAVE BEEN TOLD. to overcome, the stresses which impinge upon it from outside. It behaves purposively, the nature and form of its reaction being determined by the specific environmental stress encountered. It responds to challenge, which no aggregate or assembly of non-living substances can ever do”. So.. are you with me so far? The medical establishment says a germ arrives, multiplies and we get sick. Kill the germ, support the sick body and we get well. Vitalism says that life itself within us is creating dis-ease, and the proof it offers is pleomorphism, or the observable ability for live matter to transmute from one life form to another, subject to Of all of the physicists of his generation, Schrödinger stands out because of his extraordinary intellectual versatility. He was at home in the philosophy and literature of all of the Western languages, and his popular scientific writing in English, which he had learned as a child, is among the best of its kind. His study of ancient Greek science and philosophy, summarized in his Nature and the Greeks (1954), gave him both an admiration for the Greek invention of the scientific view of the world and a skepticism toward the relevance of science as a unique tool with which to unravel the ultimate mysteries of human existence. Schrödinger’s own metaphysical outlook, as expressed in his last book, Meine Weltansicht (1961; My View of the World), closely paralleled the mysticism of the Vedanta. life forces. Talk to any naturopath, homoeopath or acupuncturist and you’ll hear the same in different words. But what is so amazing about this comparison is its timeliness. For we are poised on the brink of the quantum era; the ‘new new age’ where we begin to see, experience and relate to the possibility that all experience, including health, is a choice made by our minds, changeable and multidimensional. In 1946, the quantum physicist Erwin Schroedinger pointed out... “that biological material has a totally different character from all other states of matter density of life - that is, the information stored per unit volume - and that of any inorganic system that has not been produced by living forms...The silicon chip must use many orders of magnitude more atoms to store the same amount of information as a gene.” Erwin Schrodinger Quantum Physicist, father of modern Quantum theory. Could it be that Vitalism was actually Quantum theory ahead of its time? According to Harris Coulter, medical historian, no perfect Rationalist therapeutic doctrine has ever been devised. Even Galen, who of all physicians in history worked hardest at theoretical consistency, left a few loose ends. But the theoretical foundation of modern medicine which emerged in the late nineteenth century - a specific bacterial disease treated by the ‘contrary’ medicine - seemed to its devotees an almost unblemished depiction of the Rationalistic reality. This is what ‘modern’ allopathic medicine has become, and this may be why modern medical practitioners are so challenged by natural therapies. Their investment in the known is threatened by their ignorance of the unknown. So.. microbes and the germ theory became the organizing principle in medicine, bringing clinical data together into a series of new specific modalities with some good cures. The ‘germ theory’ was bolstered by the doctrine of ‘monomorphism’ - meaning again that microbial genera and species are fixed and eternal, that the form of each microorganism associated with a specific disease “ The silicon chip must use many orders of magnitude more atoms to store the same amount of information as a gene ” WHY MODERN MEDICINE CAN’T TELL YOU THE TRUTH INVESTMENT IN ANY DOCTRINE BRINGS LACK OF ABILITY TO SEE THE TRUTH IN OTHER DOCTRINES always stays the same and always causes that same disease. “Monomorphism” says Harris, “ was above all, a practical response to an emergency situation in bacteriology. This concept of disease, emerged in a context of intense anxiety over the social depredations inflicted in every country in Europe and the United States by a series of diseases whose very names - tuberculosis, diphtheria, typhus, cholera--were chilling reminders of human mortality,” and... “involved in the concept of Pleomorphism was the role and importance of the host organism - THE PATIENT! Microbes altered their forms in response to the patient, in response to the diet, environmental stresses the patient encountered, what poisons the patient consumed etc..” Such ideas have little relevance to what a doctor is forced to practise today. So let’s summarize before we get too bogged down! Dr Myers says: “The internal parasite, which exists in us always, is in contrast to external parasites with which we occasionally come in contact. This is where the germ theory actually holds relevance. This is the area of external microbes and parasites that when taken to extremes, intensifies into infectious diseases and epidemics which overwhelm the system. If the acid base (alkaline) balance is right however, I maintain that one could not get sick. Surprisingly, without having even the slightest idea of pleomorphic biology, medicine (through hygiene), has accomplished much in this area.Opportunistic bugs, bacteria and viruses are all over the place. They are even in our blood, which modern science says is not so, even though they are easily seen under the microscope. Some of us get sick and some of us do not. As far back as the plagues of the dark ages some lived and some died. One third of the people did not get plague. Nobody knew why. Again, acid base balance and being in a reduced, not an oxidized state, which you would be in if you were in acid base balance. Pleomorphism... shows that ‘germs’ come from inside the body; from the “tiny dots” you can see in the blood with any microscope. These “tiny dots” of course are the colloids of life or protits. As the environment that surrounds the cells becomes acid, toxic, polluted, these “tiny dots”, protits, change form, into the micro organisms that clean up the garbage, dead cells, toxins and the like, that are the result of the toxic condition. This is what bacteria, ‘germs’, are for. When the host balance is destroyed, when the internal environment the protits and cells live in (the internal milieu) becomes toxic and acid, the protits lose their symbiosis(live harmoniously together) and life giving qualities, and devolve downward. They change first into viruses, then into bacteria and finally into fungal forms. Each of these stages is progressively more hostile to surrounding tissue cells. Germs, all microorganisms, (viruses, bacteria, fungi and everything in-between) are the result, not the cause of disease! Louis Pasteur was wrong! His idea of the bacterial cause of disease was wrong! If “germs” are there as a result, not a cause, then to treat the resultant germs with antibiotics is in theory and in fact, wrong! This basic misconception about disease affects all aspects of medicine. This is why this is a “new” biology. Louis Pasteur is said to have said on his deathbed that really he had been wrong about his “Germ Theory” of disease. He said then, in so many words, that, it is not the germ that is the problem, it is the internal environment, the inner terrian that allowed the germ to develop in the first place that is the problem. Add to this the error of William Harvey who stated in 1651 that the cell is the smallest unit of life, and the magnitude of this issue becomes even more apparent. That was more than 300 years ago!! Yet still, to this day, this fallacy has not been corrected even though Béchamp (1816-1908) demonstrated that the smallest unit of life was what he called the microzyma and Enderlein again “ Louis Pasteur was wrong! His idea of the bacterial cause of disease was wrong! If “germs” are there as a result, not a cause, then to treat the resultant germs with antibiotics is in theory and in fact, wrong! This basic misconception about disease affects all aspects of medicine. This is why this is a “new”... biology. ” LOUIS PASTEUR; ‘I WAS WRONG.’ IT IS THE INNER TERRAIN THAT ALLOWS THE GERM TO DEVELOP published in 1921 and 1925 that the smallest unit of life is not the cell but the protit. One should treat the cause, not the result. The idea of anti-biosis, anti-biotic (anti-life) is one way. The opposite of anti-biosis is PROBIOSIS (for-life), which is what Eclectic Medicine is about. It is not “alternative”, it’s Eclectic. “Alternative medicine” is just a popular anachronism for Eclectic. None of this is new and it isn’t alternative. As these “little dots”, protits, change form, they can change into organisms that are more and more detrimental to the body. They become independent and no longer live in harmony and in support of their host body. As they develop their individual form, they create their own metabolism and waste products of that metabolism, which is harmful to the local body fluids, causing pain and inflammation. Finally, this local process, which develops in the body’s ‘weakest organ’, affects the whole body. So the new biology is saying that is not the organisms that make you sick, it is the waste products of the metabolism of those organisms that make you sick.” Let’s swing right back to the reason you are reading this e-Course right now. The reason is that you wnat to know why some people get sick and others don’t. Why allopathic medicine seems to cause as much suffering as “In reality, it is not the bacteria themselves that produce the disease, but we believe it is the chemical constituents of these microorganisms enacting upon the unbalanced cell metabolism of the human body that in actuality produce the disease. We also believe if the metabolism of the human body is perfectly balanced or poised, it is susceptible to no disease.” (From the Annual Report of the Board of Regents of The Smithsonian Institution, 1944). it relieves. Why we don’t know - really know - how to care for ourseves and our loved ones. So here it is; Acid/Alkaline balance for Dummies: 1. As we age, acids, heavy metals, petrochemicals, pesticides and other toxins accumulate in the body’s genetically ‘weakest’ and most devitalized organs. 2. As the blood supply to these vital organs is reduced and their immunity is reduced because of the same organic and inorganic acids and toxins, these organs become bastions for viruses, bacteria, and fungi, where they multiplyin ‘peace’. 3. The function of these organisms is to consume the accumulating toxic debris. This is rotting pure and simple. Pleomorphism. These organisms are pleomorphic. 4. These organisms of pleomorphism set up their housekeeping in the compartments of the body that are the most acid, the most oxidized and that have the highest pollution with toxic metals. These areas are where the body’s own immune cells are also incapacitated - so anaerobic germs, viruses and fungi multiply and thrive in an undisturbed state that cannot be conquered.. 5. The body rots and oxidizes from the inside out. Balance begins at home, as early as possible in our lives, not at the end in the hospital. Pasteur confused rotting and fermentation. This ‘mistake’ affects all aspects of medicine and explains Chronic Degenerative Disease. Acids, toxins, heavy metals accumulate...so pleomorphism changes organisms in the body to decompose it. Known Biology , said Dr Bechamp, is wrong. The body oxidizes and decomposes from the inside out; you don’t ‘catch’ CHRONIC DEGENERATIVE DISEASE. Around the world, the new biology is like light bulbs flashing on as experts in their field all return to Bechamp’s truths. To see a slide show of live blood degeneration and pleomorphic change go to: http://www.euroamericanhealth. com/slideshow.html “ Ignorance is Knowledge divided. Medicine for one, is many branches of specialized ignorance that when practiced alone do not work. Used together they do. Medicine divided into specialized pieces is a puzzle. A piece forgotten is the concept of pleomorphism. ”
