Hi, My name is ____________, and I’m in the Pioneer Peak 4-H club. I’ve been involved in 4-H for __ years. This year I’ve decided to raise & sell _________ at the 4-H Junior Market Livestock Program. I’m looking forward to the Alaska State fair in Palmer this fall and I’d like to tell you about the auction held there & invite you to attend. In past years, the business community has supported us tremendously with their attendance and contributions at the livestock auction. I’d like to ask for your support as well. The animals that are available at the auction are: Beef, hogs, lambs, goats, poultry and rabbits. These are ALL Alaskan grown, with strict project monitoring. I brought a brochure for you with information on the auction. It will have average purchase prices for animals and ways you can support the 4-H Junior Livestock Program. While I’m here, I’d be happy to answer your questions and tell you about my experience with the livestock program . All bidders at the Livestock auction will receive 2 free tickets into the Alaska State Fair and a free lunch provided by the Lions Club before the auction on Saturday, August 30. Preview of the animals & lunch begins at 11:00 Bidding begins at noon. The 4-H auction is a great way to get good publicity for your business in our community. Your name will be displayed at the auctions to thank you for your support. And many 4-H members proudly wear sweatshirts with the names of buyers from previous years. This year, the sale will be held Friday, the 30th of August, at noon on the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer. The 4-H sale is a great way for young people to market their livestock project & a great way for businesses to support and promote the growth of youth and agriculture in Alaska If you like to see young people in our community working on worthwhile projects, this is a great opportunity to get involved. I hope you’ll mark your calendar now and plan to come. There are many ways in which you can contribute to the 4-H livestock program: You can attend the auction and bid on an animal If you can’t attend the auction & would still like to bid on an animal, we have “sealed bid” forms available. Signing one of these won’t guarantee that you will get meat (as in the case where someone bids more money), but it insures that someone will bid for you on the kind of animal you desire. A 3rd way to participate is to make a donation to the Charitable Buyers Club. This is a fund that makes sure every youth involved is able to sell their animal for a reasonable price. The meat bought is donated to the local food bank for distribution to needy families in our area. The 4th way to help is to contribute a financial “Add On” to individual 4-H members animal. This can be done at the auction. It’s a great way to support us without bidding or incurring the full cost of an animal. Thank you for meeting with me today! Our program does not have the ability to succeed without community support, such as yours. Here is the buyer information. If you want to take a moment to look through it, I will be happy to wait & answer questions. If you prefer, I can leave it with you to look at on your own, and you can call with any questions. (Wait for an answer) Raising a market animal is a fun and educational project for youth in our community that teaches hard work & responsibility. Thank you for allowing me to share today about the 4-H Junior Market Livestock Program. g The auction really is a lot of fun to attend. I hope you will consider supporting local youth and coming this year. Do you have any questions? Before I leave, would you please fill out my Buyer contact form? It shows that I visited your business and helps the program organizers know who has been contacted.
