Manual for Producing Green Fins Packs This is a guide to producing the contents of the Green Fins member packs for active Green Fins dive centres. If you have any questions please feel free to contact ReefWorld: [email protected] What are the member packs? As part of their membership, Green Fins dive and snorkel operators are offered a ‘member pack’ containing educational materials to help managers, staff and guests follow the Code of Conduct. The files for these materials are provided to you by ReefWorld and can also be found on www.greenfins.net for free download. Why are they provided to members? When used by the operators these materials are an excellent way to gain interest in the initiative locally and internationally, they promote environmental messages to divers and local communities, and they create a united image for dive and snorkel centre operators indicating their commitment to improving environmental standards? What is this manual for? These contents of the packs have evolved over the years through feedback from Green Fins National Teams and dive centres and now form a standardised core set of materials. Therefore, it is important to ensure that any materials produced are printed according to the instructions set out in this manual. Please note that this is a guide. Not every management team can or will produce every material outlined here. Some teams may wish to adapt the materials to the local needs of the project. We have outlined instructions for logo use, editing and translation, and quality of production below. What is included in a member pack? A typical Green Fins member pack for each dive / snorkel centre includes: File Name Material Size Quantity for one (1) dive centre Guidelines to the Code of Conduct Combined * Tarpaulin or Laminated Paper A2 2 Guidelines to the Code of Conduct – Diver Tarpaulin or Laminated Paper A3 1 Guidelines to the Code of Conduct – Dive Operator and Staff Tarpaulin or Laminated Paper A3 1 Green Fins icons (Environmentally Friendly Guidelines)* Laminated Paper A4 2 Green Fins icons (Environmentally Friendly Guidelines)* Tarpaulin or Laminated Paper A3 2 Green Fins Certificate** White card (200 GSM) A4 1 Green Fins T-shirt Apple Green T-shirt Various 2 Green Fins Bag Canvas bag 1 Green Fins Flag Durable flag material 1 Green Fins Environmental Briefing Cards Durable waterproof paper / PVC card A6 1 set The Green Fins Guide Printed on paper and put in a plastic document wallet A4 Approx. 23 sheets Green Fins Stickers Vinyl Outdoors sticker paper 4 in x 4 in 2 * We consider the Guidelines to the Code of Conduct, the Green Fins icons and the certificates as essential items in the member pack. Should budgets be limited for member pack production - these should be prioritised over the rest of the pack. ** Reef-World will provide you with the certificates as printable PDFs. Please request this upon completion of a batch of member assessments (ensure all information has been correctly uploaded onto the website first) by sending a full list of the official company names to be printed on the certificates. Allow up to 8 working days for turnaround. Can the files be edited? The Green Fins mission statement, 15 Code of Conduct points and the Guidelines to the Code of Conduct must never be edited, cut or added to. If you feel that edits to other materials (excluding the mission statement and Code of Conduct) are required, please contact Reef-World and we will work together to find a solution. If you would like to develop a new poster, set of guidelines or information sheet then let us know. We might add it to the standard member pack! Can you add logos to the printable files? If you are funding the production of these packs, or supporting the Green Fins activities implementation, then you should be credited. We will add your logos in line with the guidelines of the Green Fins Brand Book. Please send us a high-resolution JPEG of the relevant logos and we will send you back the adjusted files. What materials should be used for producing the member packs? Due to the nature of the Green Fins initiative, the materials you print on must be durable and, preferably, waterproof. The materials choices listed in the table above are recommended based on years of experience producing these packs and receiving feedback from Green Fins members. Outlined below are recommendations for the production options for each item listed in the standard member pack. The files have been provided to you in PDF format with the correct sizes included in the file name. Please reiterate the following information to your printer. Green Fins members with flag and tarpaulin materials What if you need the materials in a different language? Dive and snorkel operators cater to many different nationalities, and some have to overcome significant language barriers with their guests. Posters and guidelines have been developed to rely more on pictures than text, to help overcome this barrier. Some Green Fins posters are available in the most commonly spoken languages of dive and snorkel tourists. Reef-World recommends that you provide these translated materials to a specific Green Fins member that caters to a particular nationality if resources allow. If you would like to translate something, please contact Reef-World and we will send you the text for translating.
