Are you about to embark on your first big adventure? The average person sleeps for eight hours –
that’s one third of a day. That’s reason enough to invest in a sleeping bag that’s right for you. Our
experienced staff will find a sleeping bag that caters to the the warmth, weight, quality and budget
that you require.
How to choose your sleeping bag
We have a range of down and synthetic sleeping bags to keep
you warm and snuggly in the coldest conditions. Amongst our
diverse range you will also find ultralight, travel, backpacking
and even high altitude models. We stock only leading brands
such as Mont, Rab and Exped.
Sleeping bags are generally categorised in respect to seasons.
We have 2-, 3- and 4-season bags, as well as expedition sleeping
bags for extreme conditions.
- Two-season bags are typically very lightweight. Designed
for summer/spring activities in warm climes, to a lower
comfort temperature range of approximately 0°C.
- Three-season bags are mid-range bags. Designed for
activities such as travel and bushwalking, where mild to
cooler conditions may be anticipated to a lower comfort
temperature range of approximately -8°C.
- Four-season bags are for cold conditions. Designed for
activities such as bushwalking, ski touring or mountaineering,
where cold conditions may be anticipated to a lower
temperature range of approximately -20°C.
- Expedition bags are for cold conditions. Designed for activities
like ski touring or mountaineering where cold conditions may
be anticipated to a lower temperature ranges of about -25+°C.

Care for your new sleeping bag
A down sleeping bag is not difficult to look after. With the
correct care you can greatly increase your sleeping bag’s life.
Do not store your sleeping bag in its stuff sack. If you have the
room, hang it in your wardrobe or keep it folded on a shelf.
If you have limited space, store it in a pillow case or purchase
a mesh storage bag from us. All Mont down sleeping bags
come with a storage sack. Always use a sleeping bag liner to
keep your sleeping bag clean. Dirt and body oils reduce the
loft greatly. Liners are available in cotton, silk or a cotton/silk
blend. Silk liners are the lightest and most compact option.
A well used sleeping bag should be washed a few times
during its life. It is far easier to get a professional to do this
and we recommend Remote Repairs (remoterepairs.com.
au). If you do elect to wash your bag yourself, follow washing
instructions provided on the sleeping bag and use only
recommended down washes such as Storm Wash-In Down
Cleaner, available at our store.

About Rab Bags*
- Mountaineer Rab Carrington started making sleeping bags in Patagonia over 30 years ago before setting up shop at home in Sheffield, UK. Rab made kit for
climbers, by climbers and in the mid 1980s he became the first manufacturer in the world to use Pertex® in the production of sleeping bags and down jackets.
- The original ethos of Rab remains core to current product development; a strong focus on using functional designs and high quality fabrics to produce premium gear for mountaineering and polar travel.
- Species and cluster ratios are key elements to superior performance in sleeping bag design. Species is defined by the type of fowl whilst Cluster ratios refer to the percentage of down plume content and percent
age of feather content. European down is generally
better quality than Chinese down due to the birds
being older and having better developed down plumage when harvested.
