SUCCESS WITH NXP
“We have over 15,000 contracts and every year we add 3,500
new contracts with new approval flows. Apttus is becoming part
of the genes of our organization and can really help us grow by
enabling efficient contracting processes.”
-
Charles Smit, Executive VP, Legal, NXP Semiconductor
Apttus delivers a flexible solution built on the Salesforce platform to provide NXP
with swift and efficient Contract Management.
Customer Overview
NXP Semiconductor, a leading global semiconductor company providing intelligent solutions for electronic
devices with operations in more than 25 countries and $4.36 billion in revenue.
The Business Challenge
NXP needed a contract management solution that could serve their company worldwide. NXP had just been
spun off from Philips and had no tools and no formal processes of its own. They needed a way to manage
more than 15,000 contracts worldwide with efficient processes and effective risk management.
Like many companies, NXP is decentralized with many people work on contracts across diverse geographies.
It wanted one system to be used for sales and purchasing contracts. NXP’s objectives were three-fold: to
have one contract database worldwide, to have one contract approval process worldwide, and to have one set
of data that could be used to manage risks worldwide. This initiative was high on the company board’s wish
list and the vice president of legal was named as the project leader.

high because the sales organization was already using Salesforce and it needed to ensure that sales would
use the system, otherwise the project would not be a success.

The flexibility of the Apttus solution was also very important to
NXP. They knew what they needed customized and had the requirements gathered upfront. Since most of
the company’s business managers spend a good portion of their time traveling, the ability to approve
contracts on a mobile device was also high on the solution criteria list.
