Climb A Muerte! is the first leg of the Singapore Climbing League 2013.
Registration Fees

Categories for Registration
1. Schools Category
a. Schools Under 16 – Available to all full-time students born 1997 and later
b. Schools – Available to all full-time students born 1996 and earlier
2. Open / Masters / NS Categories
a. Open – Available to all climbers
b. Masters – Available to all climbers born 1978 and earlier
c. NS – Available to all SAFRA members who are NSFs / Regulars / NSMen
Each participant can only register in ONE category.
Non-Competitive Categories
No registration is required, scores tabulated by Organiser
a. Battle of the sexes – Winning gender will be determined by highest average
score of all male vs female participants
b. Nation of climbers – Winning country (Singapore excluded) will be
determined by total points accumulated by all participating climbers who are
citizens of that country, with ladies scoring double points on all routes.

Total climbing time for each category will be 5 hours.

All routes shall be climbed on lead ONLY.
All participants must be SNCS Level 2 (or equivalent) certified.
Routes will be colour-coded by handhold colour.
Each route shall have a BONUS quickdraw (worth 50% of total points allocated to
the route) marked in YELLOW & an ENDING quickdraw / anchor marked in BLACK.
No belayers will be provided by the organisers; participants are to belay each other
using approved belay devices.
Quickdraws will be provided (left on the walls); all other climbing equipment
(including ropes, harnesses, shoes & belay devices) to be provided by participants
or loaned from Climb Asia’s service counter.
To climb:
a. Register to receive a scorecard
b. Fill in your particulars and remember your participant number.
c. When your respective category commences, choose a route you want to try.
d. Hand your scorecard to the lane judge and wait for your turn.
e. When it’s your turn, the lane judge will call for your number.
f. You must commence your attempt within 60 seconds, or your turn will be
forfeited.
g. You can only attempt the route once during each turn.
h. You will have a maximum of 5 minutes to complete your climb.
i. If you do not complete the route, but successfully cleared the BONUS
quickdraw (clipped in), you will be awarded half of the total points allocated
for that route.
j. Check that your score has been updated in your scorecard before leaving
the lane.
k. If you fail to complete the route, you can try it again by putting your scorecard
back in the queue. Alternatively, you can try another route.
l. The harder the route, the more points allocated.
m. Climber with the most points wins!
A climber will be asked to terminate his/her climb if he/her:
a. Pulls on a quickdraw
b. Rests on the climbing rope
c. Uses a hold other than that on his indicated route to climb
d. Uses a t-nut hole on the panels
e. Uses artificial aid / equipment to climb
f. Exceeds the maximum allocated climbing time (5 minutes) per attempt.

Prizes and Singapore Climbing League 2013 Ranking





At the end of the event, all climbers will be ranked according to their respective
categories.
Prizes shall be awarded to the top 3 climbers of each category.
Points (based on CURS) will be allocated to each climber based on their ranking.
These points shall roll over to the next leg(s) of the Singapore Climbing League
2013, where more points may be accumulated.
The highest scoring climber in each category shall be crowned Overall League
Champion for his/her respective category.
CLIMB A MUERTE!
If you’re wondering what “A Muerte” is, it is pronounced as “ah-mwer-te”.
It literally means to the death in Spanish. “A Muerte” in climbing language means climbing
for 100%, climbing at your maximum limit or even beyond, in a climb-or-die style.
