Instructions for Presidential Candidates

Procedure
In order to qualify for the DC Republican Party presidential preference vote, a presidential
candidate must complete the DC GOP Standard Form (below) and either:
(1) Pay a filing fee of $12,500 on or before 5:00 PM EST, Monday, January 4, 2016; or
(2) Submit a valid petition of at least 150 duly registered and qualified Republican voters from the
District of Columbia and submit a payment in the amount of $7,500 on or before 5:00 PM EST,
Monday, January 4, 2016. Checks should be made payable to the “DC Republican Party.”
Filing documentation for presidential campaigns (DC GOP Standard Form, filing fee of $12,500 or
$7,500, and petitions) must be delivered by the presidential candidate’s representative(s) to the DC
GOP in the following fashion: (A) DC GOP Standard Form may be emailed, mailed, or hand
delivered; (B) filing fee may mailed or hand delivered; and (C) Petitions may be mailed or hand
delivered (NOTE: Only petitions that are hand delivered will receive a receipt). Presidential
Candidates, Delegates and Alternates to the Republican National Convention will be elected at the
District of Columbia Republican State Convention on March 12, 2016.
Important Dates
●
Wednesday, October 7, 2015: First day for Presidential candidates to submit standard form with
fee of $12,500 for Option #1 filing.
● Wednesday, October 14, 2015: Presidential candidates to pick up petitions for Option #2 filing.
● November/December, 2015 (Date TBD): First day for Delegate candidates to pick up petitions.
● Monday, January 4, 2016 (5:00 PM EST) Standard Forms, petitions and payments due.
● Friday, February 12, 2016: Delegate Ballot Access: Delegate Standard Form and (1) Petitions
and/or (2) $50 fee due in person.
● Monday, February 15, 2016: First day for Presidential campaigns to endorse up to 32 Delegates.
● Monday, February 29: Last day for Presidential campaigns to endorse Delegate candidates, and
last day Delegate candidates may accept or reject the Presidential campaign endorsement.
● Early March 2016: DC Republican Party Lincoln Douglass Day Dinner.
● Saturday, March 12, 2016: DC Republican Presidential Candidate & Delegate Selection
