School performances of Ballet Theatre of Maryland, the premier
professional ballet company of Maryland.
Featuring: The Nutcracker: Friday December 4, 2015 @ 10:30am
During the 2015-2016 academic year, the Ballet Theatre of Maryland will offer mini-shows of its Nutcracker
production. "Minis" are performances especially staged for students and are held at the Bowie Center for the
Performing Arts, 15200 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD 20715. There is ample free parking for buses and access
for persons with disabilities. Professional dancers will perform, as well as some gifted, student dancers, all in
beautiful costumes. The performance is approximately one hour long and is preceded by a brief talk to help the
students enjoy and appreciate the ballet to follow.
Arts integration lessons in language arts, social studies, science, physical education, visual art and music are
easily implemented from subject matter of the featured ballet. In December, we invite you to attend the most
famous Christmas Party of all time as you attend The Nutcracker where the possibility of dreams, the magic of
Christmas and the wonder of the child merge through young Clara's adventures with mechanical dolls, life-size
rats, and whirling Kingdoms of Snow and Sweets. Help Clara rescue her beloved Nutcracker from the Rat
Queen's evil spell and discover her true destiny.
Tickets for students, teachers, and chaperones are $5.00 each. In the past, many PTA groups and school boards
have helped pay for the tickets and for bus transportation, especially if you plan ahead. To reserve space for
your students, please complete the attached Reservation Form(s) and return with a deposit. Please note that you
will not receive tickets. Confirmation of your reservation will be sent after the deposit is received. Your name
will be included on the lobby check-in list.
Note: Homeschool Teacher/Coordinators should include an email address in order to receive confirmation of
payment receipt.
