Dear Parents, Friends, and Benefactors, We are so Thankful for all of

Dear Parents, Friends, and Benefactors,
We are so Thankful for all of you…
Taking the time to support us.
Holding us to high standards
Always being there for us.
Never failing to love us.
Keeping us going in tough times.
Forgiving our short comings
Unconditionally sharing your time.
Letting us work with your students.
There is no better way than to spell it out and let you know that we do notice your support.
Now we ask you to do us a favor, as a family we need your help. We are asking that each family
write a poem (no it does not have to rhyme) telling what you are thankful for in your lives. Have
each member contribute to the poem in their own special way. The Bible tells us in so many
ways that God wants to hear us say our thanks.
Psalms 136:1 O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures forever.
Lamentations 3:23 They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
John 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus
lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
Ephesians 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
After you have finished your poem I would like to hang them up in the hallway at school. It will
allow us to show just how much we have to be thankful for in our community.
As we approach the holiday of Thanksgiving let us not forget the Souls that have gone before us
to be with our Heavenly Father. We celebrate All Saints Day on November 1, 2016 and All
Souls Day on the 2, 2016. We will be having special Mass times for All Saints Day October
31, at 7:00PM at Saint Thomas, Nov. 1st, 8:05AM (School Mass) and 7:00PM at Sacred
Heart. All Souls Day Mass at 7:00PM at Sacred Heart.
Classroom Happenings:
Mrs. Kuhlmann has been working on Pumpkin countdowns and Mouse’s First Halloween. They
will then start working on Thankfulness and turkeys. Who knows they may have a lot of Native
Americans running around in that room.
Mrs. Bean will just be starting her Letter Dd Book. Kindergarten Bear is making the rounds to all
the houses for a play date with each of the students. After time with the students he will then
begin visiting the students’ homes and asking for help in finding his true name.
Miss Jones’s class is working on Prayers of Gratitude. God wants us to show through prayer that
we are thankful for his many gifts that he shares with us. They are also reading from many
different sources.
Mrs. Cotterill’s class is working on the game I’ve got… who’s got. They have worked on
Antonyms and Synonyms, nouns and Proper nouns. It seems each week they have something
new to practice.
Mrs. Johnson’s class is working on Spider Math foldable. They have been doing their Spelling
and Vocabulary tests weekly on the chrome books. They enjoy being able to sign in and do the
test at their own speed. The first week on November they will be doing the readings at Mass.
Mrs. Wilson’s fourth grade has been working on what the author wants them to understand in the
stories. How does the author play with language to add to meaning? What does it provide in the
stories? The 5th and 6th graders are working on writing poetry in English.
Mrs. McCune’s fifth grade class has been reading Tuck Everlasting. They are finding the story
entertaining and exciting. She has been working in Math centers with 4-6th graders. They are
covering work in the books as well as do other activities to help them with their knowledge of
math concepts. Lately they have been working on area, perimeter, and volume.
Miss VonFeldt’s sixth grade class has been studying the Babylonian Exile in Ancient Civ. They
have also been studying the properties of matter in Science. In the 4th grade science class they are
working on benefits to organisms that may be harmful to other organisms. The 5th grade class is
studying the adaptability of plants.
Music Class is getting ready for the Christmas Musical. They will soon be getting parts to study.
As always it does not take long and it will soon be here. The first Sunday of December we will
be putting on the glitz for all to hear and see.
Sincerely in Christ,
Laura Foss – principal
It seems we have some good little athletes.
