Calibrating the Scanner
The scanner should be calibrated before every grading period. To calibrate the top and
bottom heads:
Insert the 5 reflective calibration sheets into the tray. Ensure that Calibration Sheet 1 is on top
and the other 4 "dot" sheets are face up so that the arrows on the sheet point into the scanner.

Press both blue buttons on the scanner until "Background Menu" is displayed.
Release both buttons. "Opscan " is displayed.
Press continue. "Sheet Count" is displayed.
Press continue. "Utilities?" is displayed.
Press Yes. "Top Head Calibrate?" is displayed.
Press Yes. The 5 calibration sheets are pulled through the scanner and the message
"Calibration Complete" is displayed.
Press Quit. Flip over the 4 "dot" sheets so that the dots are face down with the timing marks
closest to you. Insert the dot sheets into the scanner. Place Calibration Sheet 1 face up with
the arrows pointing into the scanner on top of the 4 dot sheets.
The message "Bot Head Calibrate?" is displayed.
Press Yes. The bottom read head is calibrated.
Press No until "Exit Utilities Menu" is displayed.
Press Yes. "Exit Background Menu" is displayed.
Press Yes to end calibrating.
You are back where you started and ready to scan.
To Configure Communications:
1. Press both blue buttons on the scanner until "Background Menu" is displayed.
2. Release both buttons. "Opscan " is displayed. Press continue.
3. "Sheet Count" is displayed. Press continue.
4. "Utilities?" is displayed. Press Yes.
5. "Top Head Calibrate?" is displayed. Press No.
6. "Bot Head Calibrate?" is displayed. Press No.
7. "Comm Configuration?" is displayed. Press Yes.
8. NCS Standard Config? - Yes
9. "38400 Baud?" - Press "No".
10. “19200 Baud?” - Press “No”
11. "9600 Baud?" - Press "Yes"
12. When complete press "Quit"
13. "Display Brightness" - Press "No"
14. "Exit Utilities Menu" - Press "Yes"
15. "Exit Background Menu" - Press "Yes"

Note: either of the following two choices may appear, but you will only see one at any given
time.
8. "3000 Emulation Scan?" - "Yes"
or
"Image Scan?" - "No"
9. "Power-up Aux Mode?" - "No"
10. "Exit Defaults Menu?" - "Yes"
11. "Exit Background Menu?" - "Yes"
