 Concrete Details
 1) After telling Rainsford that he hunts humans, General
Zaroff invites Rainsford to the library to see his “new
collection of heads” (22).
 Zaroff wants to show off his collection because he is proud of
his hobby. This demonstrates that Zaroff is indifferent to
human life because he brags about his collection of heads.

and he tells Zaroff that it must be “a grisly joke” (21).
 Rainsford thinks Zaroff’s hobby of hunting humans is
murder, and he disapproves and is disgusted. However, when
Rainsford battles Zaroff for survival, Rainsford has to decide
if killing a person, even someone as depraved as Zaroff, is ever
acceptable.
 Rename the moral dilemma that Rainsford faces and
reference your concrete details.
 Conclusion: When Rainsford finally killed Zaroff at
the end, he confronted the moral dilemma of murder
and decided that he could kill another human as
wicked as Zaroff.
