Field Trips/Festivals
Music Festivals provide students with an opportunity to perform outside of school, in front of adjudicators
who rate the band’s performance against set national criteria, and provide feedback on ways they can
improve as musicians. Such field trips also give students the chance to see other schools play. Our trips to
Temecula and Knotts Berry Farm are events of this type. At Disneyland the students take part in a musical
workshop organized by Disney. In all 3 cases the students enjoy some fun afterwards.
Transportation Costs
Per District Policy, the San Marcos Unified School District requires Band to use their yellow school
buses to attend off-campus events. We request a donation of $25 to cover your student
transportation cost for the entire school year. You can make check payable to SEMS Band Boosters.
