Directions to Morukuru Ocean House at De Hoop Nature Reserve
PLEASE NOTE :
• The reserve gate closes at 18h00 (19h00 on Fridays).
• When you get to Bredasdorp or Swellendam, please contact Ocean House at +27-82 651 2114 or
+27-76 504 2520 to advise estimated arrival time at the main gate of De Hoop Nature Reserve.
• We strongly recommend a vehicle with high ground clearance (4x4 or 2x4) for the gravel roads leading to
and inside De Hoop Nature Reserve.
• We advise that you fill up with fuel in Bredasdorp, Riviersonderend or Swellendam, before arriving at De
Hoop Nature Reserve, there is no fuel available inside De Hoop Nature Reserve.

Self-drive from Cape Town (scenic route approx 3.5 – 4 hours):
Take the N2 to Caledon. From Caledon drive on the R316 through Napier to Bredasdorp. From Bredasdorp take the
R319 to Swellendam out of town for about 6kms and then turn right - sign posted De Hoop / Malgas / Infanta. Travel
on the gravel road for 33kms until you see a sign to the right - BUCHU BUSHCAMP / DE HOOP. It is 7km from this
turn off to the Main Gate of the Park. You will be met at the Main Gate and escorted to Morukuru Ocean House.
Self-drive from Cape Town (fastest and easiest route approx 3.5 hours):
Travel on the N2 from Cape Town to Swellendam, past Caledon and Riviersonderend. Pass the Bredasdorp turn off
and look out for Spitskop turnoff on your right (it is 13km before Swellendam). Turn right onto the Spitskop road and
travel for approx 30km until you get to a T-junction. Turn left at the T-junction signed Malgas / Infanta and travel
approx 2km before you turn right onto the De Hoop Pad signed BUCHU BUSHCAMP / DE HOOP. It is 7km from this
turn off to the Main Gate of the Park. You will be met at the Main Gate and escorted to Morukuru Ocean House.

From George / Swellendam (approx 4 hours from George):
Travel on the N2 from George in the direction of CapeTown. 13km past Swellendam turn left onto gravel road,
signed Spitskop. Continue on this road for about 30km until you reach a T-junction. Turn left at the T-junction
signed Malgas / Infanta and travel approx 2km before you turn right onto the De Hoop Pad signed BUCHU
BUSHCAMP / DE HOOP. It is 7km from this turn off to the Main Gate of the Park. You will be met at the Main Gate
and escorted to Morukuru Ocean House.
