Jack and Jill Preschool
2014-2015 term event and vacation calendar
Please make note of your child's special events, activities and school closings throughout the term. More information regarding
each event will be provided at the necessary time. Activities and event dates may be canceled or changed due to unforeseen
circumstances. Field trips for the pre-k. classes (in addition to the Walker's pumpkin patch trips) may be added during the
term. Families will be notified of any field trips as far in advance as possible. Permission must be given by parents and
guardians for any child to participate in any field trip. Please check your most current snack calendar, parent newsletter, the
preschool website (JackandJillLehighton.org) or contact the preschool for up to date information.
September:
Tuesday, September 2: first day of classes for pre-k. students. Orientation day.
Children attend preschool for one hour and an adult must stay with them during that
time. Wedensday, September 4 will be a regular preschool session for students.
Thursday, September 4: first day of classes for primary students. Orientation day.
Children attend preschool for one hour and an adult must stay with them during that time. Friday, September 6
will be a regular preschool session for students.
.October:
Saturday, October 18, 2014: Lehighton Halloween Parade. Jack and Jill
Preschool children and parents will participate in the parade with a float. This event is
sponsored by the Parent's Organization and they will provide more information.
Wednesday, October 22 2014-Pre-k. class trips to Walker's Tree Farm and
Pumpkin Patch at 308 Spruce Street, Lehighton (610-377-1829). Morning class children
and families to meet at the pumpkin patch by 9:20 a.m. Afternoon class children and
families to meet at the pumpkin patch by 12:20 p.m. Jack and Jill does NOT provide
transportation for this trip, each participating family is responsible to make their own travel arrangements to and
from the farm. Parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. are all welcome to take part in this fieldtrip. There is a
charge for each child and adult who takes part on this trip. Each family is responsible to cover the cost for their
child (including the Jack and Jill student), themselves and any additional participants. A permission slip with more
information will be sent home at the beginning of October.

have a Halloween parade and provide a short program for their families during the first 30 minutes of each class
time. The parade and program will be held in Trinity's sanctuary.
Wednesday, October 29,2014: Lehighton trick or treat night from 6-8 p.m. The preschool staff will be
out in front of the building handing out candy. Stop by, show off your costumes and say hello!
Friday, October 31, 2014-Halloween program and parties for primary students. The children will have a
Halloween parade and provide a short program for their families during first 30 minutes of class time. The parade
and program will be held in Trinity’s sanctuary.
November:
Tuesday, November 25, 2014-Pre-k Thanksgiving Feast and program for families during
last 45 minutes of each class time during both a.m. and p.m. classes. Held in Luther Hall. More
information will be handed out at the beginning of November.
Thursday, Friday & Monday November 27, 28, & December 1, 2014-Preschool closed
for Thanksgiving vacation
December:
Thursday, December 18, 2014-Primary class Christmas program. Held in Trinity church
during first 30 minutes of class time. Family members invited to attend.
Friday, December 19, 2014- Primary class Christmas party.
Tuesday December 23, 2014-Pre-kindergarten class Christmas parties. There is NO
pre-k. Christmas program for families.
Wednesday, December 24, 2014-Friday,January 2, 2015 inclusive:
Preschool closed for Christmas vacation
January:
Monday, January 5, 2015: Classes resume for students.
Sunday, January 25, 2015: Jack and Jill Sunday at Trinity. All preschool children, families and
friends are invited to this worship service to celebrate the preschool ministry.
February:
Monday, February 2, 2015-Registration for the 2015-16 term begins for members of
Trinity and also for children and siblings of children currently enrolled in Jack
Jill. Ask a teacher for a registration form.
Wednesday, February 11, 2015: Pre-k. classes Valentine’s Day parties.
Thursday,February 12, 2015-Pimary classes Valentine’s Day parties.
Friday, February 13 & Monday, February 16,2015-Preschool closed for President’s
Weekend
March:
Monday, March 2, 2015-Open House and registration begins for new families to
register for the 2015-2016 term. Held at the preschool building from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Snowdate for the Open House is Monday, March 9 at the same time.
Friday, March 27, 2015: Primary class Easter party
April:
Wednesday, April 1, 2015: Easter parties for the pre-kindergarten classes.
Thursday, April 2-Monday, April 6, 2015 (inclusive):preschool closed for Easter vacation
Friday, April 24, 2015: Jack and Jill Preschool 'Prom', sponsored by Parent's Organization.
May:
Monday, May 25, 2015-Preschool closed for Memorial Day
Tuesday, May 26, 2015-Pre-k. family picnic at Phifer Ice Dam Park
Wednesday, May 27, 2015: Last day of classes for pre-k. children. Make your own sundae
parties.
Thursday, May 28, 2015: Primary family picnic at Phifer Ice Dam
Friday, May 29, 2015: Last day of classes for primary children. Make your own sundae
parties.
Graduation and Closing Program: Sunday, May 31, 2015-for all Jack & Jill students &
families. 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary with reception in Luther Hall.
In case of bad weather, Jack and Jill will follow the Lehighton Area School District
closing/cancellation schedule.
If LASD has a delayed bad weather start-there will be no a.m. class for that day.
If LASD has an early bad weather dismissal-there will be no p.m. class for that day.
If LASD has a bad weather cancellation-there will be no preschool at all for that day.
