Coco-Cola narrowly beats Colgate to become Brazil’s number one brand
Global TGI can reveal that both Coco-Cola and Colgate are both consumed by 67% of the
Brazilian population; however the number of users in millions secures the top spot for
Coca-Cola. This brings to light regional similarities throughout Latin America as Coca-Cola
and Colgate also take the top two spots in Argentina and Mexico.

The Brazilian economy has continued to grow strongly in recent years despite the world’s
global financial crisis. With the 2014 football World Cup taking place across Brazil and the
2016 Olympics being held in Rio de Janeiro, global brands may find it easier than ever to
gain mass exposure to the rapidly developing Brazilian market along with the possibility of
extending their reach to the rest of Latin America.

Singapore has an influx of international brands
When using Global TGI data you can draw direct comparisons between markets allowing
clear similarities or differences to be highlighted. For example, the Singaporean and Indian
markets differ significantly with the top ten brands in Singapore being well known
international brands, whereas local brands dominate the top ten results in India.
This strong presence of international brands within Singapore may well be encouraged by
their very open economy for international trade and investment. However, as we witness
the Indian market continue to develop rapidly in the coming years, will this open up their
top ten to become increasingly dominated by global brands?

Global soft drinks brands are largely consumed throughout Australia
The Coca-Cola Company are enjoying great success throughout the Australian market with
a number of their soft drink brands making the top ten. Additionally, a number of well
known global brands have successfully established themselves as favourites amongst
Australian consumers, particularly within the soft drinks category. In contrast to this, it is
worth noting that two alcoholic drinks brands, Bailey and Bacardi, have made the top 10
which is not seen in the other countries.
With Solo drinks being manufactured by the Schweppes brand, Berri holds the only top ten
position for a true local home grown Australian brand.
