Progress Bursary Credit
Who is eligible?
Home and EU students, who meet the
eligibility criteria, may be awarded up to
£900 Progress Bursary Credit over the
course of their studies. This can be spent
on study related items to help support
you during your time at UEL.
We’re excited to offer new students this package worth up to £1,200! There’s
no catch, and the tablet and credit award are yours to keep. The bursary is your
reward for progressing and working hard at university. The award will help to
support your learning during your time at UEL.
You could be eligible for a full or partial award depending on whether you are a
Home, EU, or International student.
Tablet and E-books
Progress bursary credit

Part time Home/EU

You also need to meet the following criteria to be eligible:
• Be a new undergraduate student, starting in September 2014
• Be paying fees of £9,000 (Home/EU) or £10,400 (International) per year
• Be studying full or part time

During Enrolment:
Tablet and E-books
If you meet the criteria, you will receive your Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Tablet,
during enrolment. The tablet will come pre-loaded with core e-books for every
module you register for.
Progress Bursary Card
All students joining us in September 2014 are eligible for a free Bursary Card,
these will be issued at registration during enrolment. If you missed enrolment
you will be able to get a Bursary Card from the John Smith’s student stores at
Docklands and Stratford.
You can still get a Bursary Card even if you’re not eligible for the Progress Bursary.
This means that you, your parent/guardian or anyone that would like to support
you in your studies can add money to your card to be used in the John Smith’s
Student Store.
How do you qualify for
Progress Bursary Credit?
In order to qualify for your UEL Progress
Bursary Credit you must:
• Submit all pieces of your coursework
and assignments before the deadline
• Attend all of your exams
• Have a good attendance record
• Not breach UEL regulations, in
particular all pieces of assessment
must be your own work
When will you receive
your Progress Bursary
Credit?
If you’re successful, after the Christmas
break, your Progress Bursary Card will
automatically be loaded with credit. Log
on to your UEL Bursary account through
UEL Direct to check.
John Smith “Bursary
Advance” Scheme
You can receive a partial advance of up
to £150 on your UEL Progress Bursary,
which means you can take away the
books, stationery, art materials, and
selected study essentials you need at the
start of the year. You need to make an
application to John Smith’s to take part
in this offer – see in store for terms and
conditions.
Use it or lose it!
Any Progress Bursary awards you receive
will be kept on your Bursary Card for the
duration of your studies at UEL. However,
once you graduate you won’t be able to
use your Bursary Card. So make sure
to take advantage of the range of goods
and services you can use your bursary
on. We’ll remind you if you have any
credit left on your card when you’re close
to graduating.
