April -May 2015 2015 Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheons Our annual recognition luncheons have surprisingly already come and gone this year. The Livingston and Brighton luncheon was held at Livingston on April 16. The Ann Arbor, Saline and Canton luncheon was held in Ann Arbor on April 23. Both of them were a smash hit! Or, shall we say "A step in Paradise"? The theme was Caribbean Treasure. As soon as you walked in, you could hear the relaxing island music in the background. There were grass skirts and fish netting (around the buffet table that is). The gorgeous centerpieces were tropical flowers placed in clear bottles which sat atop sand with seashells scattered around. The menu of Pulled Pork, Pineapple Coleslaw and Wonderful Coconut Cupcakes was a bit hit! Entertainment at Livingston's luncheon was Caribbean Dancing with Bobby Green of Whirl of Dance with Nikki Rochelle and St. Joe's Trish Jackson. While entertainment at Ann Arbor's luncheon was provided by Flamenco Fiesta, traditional Spanish dancers. One volunteer commented that the performers were as good as Spanish dance performers she had once seen while in Spain! Last but not least, the many kind words of thanks and appreciation by staff and leadership for the commitment and dedication of all volunteers. Brighton & Livingston Transformation Saint Joseph Mercy Health System has submitted a $42 Million capital improvement plan to Trinity Health to invigorate and redefine health care delivery in Livingston County. In addition to much-needed facility upgrades to the aging Livingston hospital, the plan includes developing an innovative "short-stay" service at St. Joseph Mercy Brighton that would create a niche between inpatient care and outpatient care. The plan was submitted to Trinity Health on December 17, 2014. Once approved, construction could begin as early as Summer 2015.
