MediaCAST--- Using the Morning Announcements tool
1.) Open Morning Announcements tool.
2.) Click on Welcome on left side of window.
3.) Click on Properties.
 You can rename your welcome
 Import your Welcome video—WMV file (can be created in Windows Movie Maker)
o You can make a Welcome slide or short video to run at the beginning of your morning announcements
program using Windows Movie Maker. This file should be easily accessible (flash drive or saved to the
MediaCAST cart) as you have to add everytime you open Morning Announcements. There is no known
way to save a “template” for the next time you access Morning Announcements.
 Select “Apply”
4.) Click on Live on the left of the screen. Then click on Properties.

Click on Live in middle of the screen to set to apply settings for the “newscast” part of your announcements.
o Under Source, the Video and Audio should both be set to Digital Rapids DRC-500.
o Also under Audio—“Configure” then check Enable under Pin Line Input
o Click Apply.
5.) To add a new Source, click “Add” under the Source list.




Rename Source in Name bar.
If it is a video file, click File button of “Source From” and Browse to select file.
Click Apply and the title of the source will appear in the column on the left side of the screen.
o A Source can be a pre-recorded interview, a sports or event clip, or a slide show of information. At this
time, all source files must be .wmv files. To import charts/graphs they have to be made jpeg files and
dropped into Movie Maker.
o To toggle between the added sources and the live broadcast component someone has to be at the cart
manually clicking between the source options.
After adding all desired Source files, close the Properties window. There will be a list of all the Sources you will
be using during this Morning Announcements session on the left.
6.) You are now ready to begin your live broadcast. There should be three windows across your screen—Sources,
Audio, and Video. The Audio shows you the Audio levels of your “newscaster” and the Video window gives you a
preview of what everyone will see when watching the broadcast.
 Set source to Welcome
 Click the Start Encoding button at middle top.
 To switch between Welcome and Live/ Live and Source there has to be a person standing at the cart doing this
manually.
 When you have finished your newscast, you can switch back to the Welcome to signal that the Morning
Announcements are done and/or press the Stop button at the middle top.
