Basic: Everyday Activities – week 1 of 1
Unit Objective: Students will be able to write and speak about
everyday activities using present tense verbs, as well as adverbs of
frequency.
Vocabulary: wake up, take a shower, brush teeth, comb hair, get
dressed, cook, work, eat breakfast, go to school, go to sleep, get
undressed, come home, eat breakfast/lunch/dinner
Monday

Activity Ideas:
Story Creation: Talk through picture sequence with students orally. Together write one simple
sentence for each frame elicited from the students. Pass out the picture story. Ss copy the
sentences onto their worksheet. T copies the story onto a picture story sheet to leave in the
binder for Tuesday. Note: Use present tense, not -ing verbs.
Everyday activities: Elicit from Ss what activities they do every day. As a class using
Foundations 11, label each picture. Ss should copy sentences in their notebooks.

Activity Ideas:
Mingle - Model the question; Ss circulate asking many people.
Sometimes, Always, Never Signs - pick a verb. Students cluster by always, sometimes, never
signs physically in the classroom. Group says what they are. “We never cook. They always cook”

Activity Ideas:
Listening - T says a number and an activity; Ss write the number. Ss write sentences for each
picture after correcting as a class.
Flyswatter – Elicit all of the everyday activity verbs from the students, writing them on the board.
Divide the class into two teams. T calls out a verb, Ss swat the correct word.
Sometimes, always, never sort – Learners cut up the verbs and categorize them under the
always, sometimes, never column worksheet. Fast finishers can write sentences about their
answers.

Everyday Writing – T elicits from the students what they do everyday. T writes an
example paragraph about things done every day. Ss write a similar paragraph for selves.
Higher level students can write more; lower level can write phrases.
