The board of Trustees of the Community Foundation of Collier County is
delighted to report such outstanding results in our 2008 annual report to
the community. however, as you review the work of the Foundation we are
sure you will agree that has none of this would be possible without the
generosity of our donors, the creativity of our fundholders, and the
thousands of hours of volunteer time that our committee members
contribute to help strengthen our community forever.

The Immokalee community

Of approximately 26,000

live below the poverty

increase of 15,000 to 20,000

of the population is under

LEADERSHIP COUNCIL ON AGING
The Leadership Council on Aging
YeAR ONe
BARBARA

Launched by the Women’s Initiative in September,
2008, the Leadership Council on Aging (LCA) is the
result of a community-wide collaboration. The Women’s
Initiative facilitated a workshop at the Telford Center
which was attended by over 40 institutions including
county, state and federal agencies; law enforcement;
hospitals, for profit caregivers, nonprofits, and faithbased communities. The outcome of the workshop was
that all agreed there was a compelling need to create a
central source of leadership and communication for all
organizations that serve all seniors.
Since that meeting, the Leadership Council on Aging
has been meeting regularly and arrived at some key
goals for our community: to initiate a community-wide
resource assessment; to develop and operate a senior
resource center; to create an online referral database; to
implement a local hotline for social service; and to form
a network for service providers.
• A County-wide assessment of resources for
seniors is underway in a private/public partnership
with the Area Agency on Aging, the Agua Fund,
and Florida Gulf Coast University.
• A Listserv has been established for all
organizations that serve all seniors.
• A Collier County Parish Nursing Program is
evolving through a partnership with Naples
Community Hospital and a collaboration of
interdenominational, faith-based communities.
• Work is underway to establish a central
resource of information and referrals which
will develop into a Collier County 211 local
hotline for all social services.
• Plans are progressing, in partnership with the
Senior Friendship Center, to establish a new Senior
Resource Center— a one-stop resource for medical,
mental, dental and vision care for low income
seniors. This center will also be a central resource
for information and referrals for all seniors.
It is a remarkable testimony of the commitment from

PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS COUNCIL
The Foundation benefits from many volunteers who serve on the Professional Advisors
Council (PAC), providing a wealth of knowledge and experience that guide all aspects of the
organization’s work. The PAC is made up of attorneys, financial planners, accountants, insurance
professionals, and trust officers who share a commitment to philanthropy and understand the
benefits they can provide their clients through the Community Foundation. Members of the
PAC also serve as resources for the Foundation when legal, accounting or financial questions
arise. Many member also offer their time by writing articles for the Foundation and presenting
educational seminars to potential donors regarding the benefits of charitable giving.

Loyal supporters of the
Community Foundation
since its beginning, and
Founders of the Albrecht
Legacy Society
The Albrecht Legacy Society recognizes individuals who plan on including the Community Foundation in their
estate plans. A simple addition to a person’s estate plan can launch a powerful legacy. By designating a specific dollar
amount, percentage, or residual of one’s estate as a charitable bequest to the Community Foundation, estate taxes
may be reduced.
