The new drugs are to help increase quality of life and life expectancy for patients who suffer from cancer. Ronconi's quotes: 'The grant was essential. It allowed me to carry out my research work at the University of Padova, where I initiated my career as a researcher in 2000 and, eventually, took up an academic position in 2008.' Luca Ronconi was supported for a MC re-integration grant from January 2008 to December 2010. Between 2005 and 2006 he also benefited from a MC Intra-European Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh (UK). • • Education and Culture MCAs Health projects Success stories • 237962-CYCLON ITN-2008-2.415.547€ • The aim of the project is to develop a sugar-based anti-cancer drug. Final results of the research into the anti-cancer treatment, known as Project Cyclon, are expected by 2013. The Italian scientist Milo Malanga is working with a team of scientists and researchers at Budapest-based Cyclolab, the largest research and development laboratory of its type in the world. The goal of the collaborative project is the development of Novel Therapeutic Approaches against Infectious Diseases, with particular emphasis to drug-based and vaccine-based therapies for bacterial infections affecting mucosal surfaces.
