Speaker Biographies
Keynote Speaker:
Lee A. Gill, J.D.
Lee Gill brings more than 25 years of private and public sector experience
working with major corporate executives, law firm executive committees,
hospital administrators, and college presidents. Mr. Gill's passionate
belief is that no organization can afford not to harness the rainbow of
demographic change for a competitive advantage. As he views it, "The
Business Case for Diversity" is akin to the education process, "learn it well
and be rewarded. Fail to learn it and be left behind." He received his B.A.
degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor and his Juris Doctor Degree in law from the Illinois Institute of
Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law. In 2008, Mr. Gill was
appointed as The University of Akron's first Associate Vice President for
Inclusion & Equity/Chief Diversity Officer. In that role, he directed
outreach efforts to diverse populations developing mentoring programs,
workshops, and seminars that raised cultural awareness, expanded
cultural competencies, and brought about a greater understanding and
valuing of differences in people. In 2016, Mr. Gill was appointed as the
Chief Diversity Officer and Special Assistant to the President for Inclusive
Excellence at Clemson University. He serves on numerous boards of
directors including the Upstate Urban League, NCORE (National
Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education), the National
Conference of Artists, and Hispanic Alliance. In 2014 he received the
National Diversity Visionary Award from Insight into Diversity magazine for
his significant contributions to diversity in higher education.

News Brief
The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium and PeopleAdmin
Enhance Partnership and Launch DirectEmployers Integration
The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), PeopleAdmin,
and DirectEmployers Association have partnered to assist higher
education institutions in sourcing more qualified, diverse candidates. The
partnership enhances the current partnership between HERC — the only
non-profit organization devoted to connecting exceptional and diverse
professionals with careers at higher education and affiliated employers
and PeopleAdmin — the leading provider of talent management
solutions for education.
“This collaboration meets a crucial need for HERC member employers–
to ensure job opportunities at their institutions are reaching the most
diverse cross-section of highly qualified professionals,” said Nancy
Aebersold, HERC Founder and Executive Director.
This partnership will make it easier for HERC member colleges and
universities, using SelectSuite or PeopleAdmin 7, to perform inclusive
searches which focus on attracting candidates that more accurately
reflect the diversity of the student population.
This free enhancement was made available as a pilot to a selection of
institutions in November 2015, including George Mason University, Tarrant
County College District, and the University of Houston and all institutions
have seen their position announcements reach dozens of new,
previously under-represented talent pools via targeted job board sites
like Diversity.jobs, Easter Seals, The Veterans Employment Center, Deaf to
Work, and many more.
“As a membership-based organization just like HERC, we fully support this
initiative and are excited to partner with organizations that share and
support a commitment to diversity and inclusion practices,” commented
Bill Warren, Executive Director of DirectEmployers Association.
This enhancement automatically took effect on April 19, 2016 for HERC
members using SelectSuite (or PeopleAdmin 7) who have selected to
post job announcements to HERC job boards.
These three organizations — HERC, DirectEmployers Association and
PeopleAdmin — collectively serve more than 1,500 higher education
institutions, empowering HR professionals to conduct inclusive searches.

"Becoming a member of HERC was one
of the best recruitment-related
decisions our institution has made. The
benefits are enormous and, most
surprising, the membership costs less
than a standard display ad. By posting
on HERC’s website and utilizing the
fantastic features of One Click, we
have
streamlined
our
process,
eliminated the need for an advertising
agency and have taken advantage of
discounts offered by several sources. In
addition, the free webinars, networking
