Garrard were privileged to be Crown Jewellers

ASCOT RACECOURSE ANNOUNCES GARRARD AS OFFICIAL TROPHY SUPPLIER
2nd February 2015
Ascot Racecourse is proud to announce that Garrard has been designated the ‘Official Supplier of Trophies,
Silverware and Glassware’ at Ascot Racecourse in a three year deal.
Over the past 300 years, Ascot has established itself as a national institution, providing the ultimate stage for
the best racehorses in the world with the Royal Meeting the centrepiece of the British social calendar.
Juliet Slot, Commercial Director at Ascot, welcomed the new relationship:
“Garrard is a name steeped in history, like Ascot, and we are delighted to be working with an organisation
which shares so many of our values.
“Garrard’s design of the five new pure gold plated sterling silver cups, which they are now busy creating,
have been selected and approved by Her Majesty’s Representative and the Trustees of Ascot. Although
Garrard are keeping these designs secret until closer to Royal Ascot, they feature elegant classic forms and
will be impressive in scale - fitting with the significance of each race.”
The races for which trophies are given at Royal Ascot are the Gold Cup, the Royal Hunt Cup and the
Queen’s Vase. Later in the year, such trophies are awarded for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes
in July and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes in October (both races sponsored by QIPCO).
Garrard and Ascot have centuries of rich history behind them and both are global leaders in their respective
fields. Ascot stages 13 Group One races each year, more than any other British racecourse and Garrard’s
legacy dates back to 1735, since when they have epitomised exemplary artistry and craftsmanship which has
defined British gold and silversmithing.
Garrard were privileged to be Crown Jewellers for 164 years and regularly supplied trophies to
Ascot. Garrard crafted five of the crowns on display in the Tower of London amongst other dazzling and
symbolic Royal regalia, all created in their London workshops. Today Garrard enjoys increasing
international success, creating glamorous jewellery, insignia, gleaming silver and unique sporting trophies
for clients around the world.
Jessica Cadzow FGA, Director of Silver, Special Commissions and Corporate also welcomed the
relationship:
“We are proud and excited to be working closely with Ascot again and enjoying a presence at the
Royal racecourse. It is a perfect alliance with an engaging partner and one we hope to build on for
the long term. Garrard possesses a distinguished history in creating trophies to commemorate
important sporting events and tournaments worldwide and we are delighted to employ this
extensive expertise in developing the new suite of magnificent silver gilt trophies and gifts for
Ascot.”
