The Collingswood Planning met at the Collingswood Borough Hall, 678 Haddon Avenue, on
Wednesday, April 13, 2016, the solicitor, The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
and read the Open Public Meeting Act. The Pledge of Allegiance was completed by all.
PRESENT: Joseph Santomauro, Frank Caputo, Mayor Maley, Commissioner Leonard, Mary
Ellen Ries, Diane Marini, Orem Reed and Michael P. Madden the Board Solicitor,
Tim Staszewski, Board Engineer and the Zoning Officer Gretchen Kolecki
ABSENT:
John Kane, Edward Fox and Carol Vita
These minutes are a summary of events that transpired and are not a transcript of the session.
Audiotapes of the session are available for review on appointment.
MINUTES
The February 22, 201 minutes were dispensed and Ms. Ries made a motion to approve the
minutes as presented and Mr. Kane seconded the motion. All members voted in favor of
approving the minutes as presented.
SIGN APPLICATIONS

WaWa Signs 668 Haddon Avenue
Block 96.01 Lot #15
Sign #1: Facing Haddon Avenue:
The sign will be a façade sign that is internally lit red letters Spelling “Wawa” with a brushed
aluminum goose with white returns. Wawa is proposing a smaller letter size; they are now
proposing the “W” be 18 inches tall with the rest of the letters to be 14.5 inches tall. The goose
logo will be 18 inches high and halo lit. The “Wawa” will still be internally lit and the letters
project out 5 inches. The sign is 2.3 feet tall by 8.21 feet long totaling 18.88 square feet in size.
The sign is internally lit by L.E.D. lighting.
Sign #2: Facing Parking lot:
The letter size will be as follows: the “W” will be 18 inches tall. The rest of the letters will be
14.5 inches tall. The goose logo will be 18 inches high and halo lit. The “Wawa” will be
internally lit. The sign is 2.3 feet tall by 8.21 feet long and is 18.88 square feet in size. The sign
is internally lit by L.E.D. lighting.
Ms. Ries made a motion to approve the signs as presented with granting the following design
waivers:

For the letter size of both signs.
For the signs both being internally lit.
The projection of the letters on both signs.
Ms. Marini seconded the motion. The secretary polled the board:

Chamomile Cottage 686 Haddon Avenue
Block 96.01 Lot #17.01
Front Projecting Sign:
The sign is two sided with a green background and white letters. There is also a white boarder
around the sign. The largest letter is approximately 5 inches tall and the total size of the sign is
1.83 feet tall by 2.75 feet long which is less than 6 square feet since it is an oval. The existing
building and street lighting will be used. There is an existing sign bracket on the building that
will be used to hang the sign.
Ms. Marini made a motion to approve the sign as presented and Ms. Ries seconded the motion.
Secretary polled the board and all members voted in favor of approving the sign as presented.

Collingswood Manor 460 Haddon Avenue
Block 110 Lot #1
Freestanding Sign:
The sign will be located in the front yard of 460 Haddon Ave at the corner of Haddon Ave and
Zane Avenue and complies with the 5 foot set back requirement which conforms to the Sign
Ordinance requirements.
The sign will have a cream/beige background ( the actual paint color is from the Williamsburg
Collection of Benjamin Moore called Lime white) The letters stating the building name and
address will be black and the logo will be red, blue, orange and green. The largest letters are

4.36 inches tall in the words “United Methodist Communities”. All other letters on the sign are
smaller. The logo is 1.28 feet or 15.4 inches tall. There is also a house shaped logo along with a
tag line stating; “Abundant Life for Seniors”. The overall size of the sign is 3.41 feet tall by 6.67
feet wide which is 22 square feet. The height of the sign is 8.17 feet tall from the ground to the
top, which includes the 2.16 foot high planter under the sign. The distance from the top of the
planter to the top of the sign is 6 feet. The sign will not be lit externally. This will not require a
variance. All signs attached to the outside of the building and /or are free standing MUST obtain
construction permits upon approval of signage. The Materials for the sign and posts are proposed
to be Aluminum and the planter will be 53DD brick to be in accordance with the Historic District
regulations.
Ms. Ries made a motion to approve the application as presented with granting a waiver for the
house shaped logo also the tag line that reads “Abundant Life for Seniors”. Also granting a
waiver for the overall size of the sign and the height of the sign to be larger than what is
permitted. MS. Marini seconded the motion. The secretary polled the board:

With no further business at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Maley made a motion to adjourn and Commissioner
Leonard seconded. All members voted in favor of adjourning the meeting. The Collingswood
Planning Board will reconvene on Monday, May 23, 2016.
